Today I have something truly extraordinary for you to think about and learn from. Sometimes you just see and hear things that you simply cannot ignore. Things that just send a tingle up your spine. Let me explain…

A few days ago, while searching for some inspiration for a new project I was engaging in, I found something. In fact, it turned out to be rather serendipitous – for reasons that I will explain a bit later.

Anyway, I was just surfing Youtube – searching, searching, searching…

… and then out-of-the-blue I found just what I was looking for – something that I became totally enraptured with. I don’t say that lightly either because most things just fail to impress me. So when I find something this exquisite I like to tell anybody who will listen all about it. Click the link below and you will quickly see what I am talking about. Here is a truly amazing rendition of a BRILLIANT song.

Did it take your breath away? It did for me.

This is a truly masterful performance which, in my opinion, even out-performs the original version and that isn’t easy to do – especially when you know the original performer is Agnetha Faltskog. Unsure of who that is? It’s the blonde lady from Abba.

And here are a few moments that really touched me – apart from the little giggle from that cute little lady co-introducing the act. You can see and hear that at the 0:07 mark.

I have to admit when I first heard that orchestra open up so loudly I was a bit concerned that it would drown out the singer’s vocals but she simply sang right over the top of it. Here are some other high points for me:

The vocal crescendo that builds from 1:08 to 1:13. This gives a hint of what will follow.

2:11 to 2:17 – her facial expressions.

3:18 to 3:28 – there’s that look again…

3:49 to 4.25 – the final crescendo.

4:27 to 4:32 – the reaction of the crowd and the look on her face when she acknowledges the applause.

Im my opinion, this is a spectacularly perfect performance from a singer in total command.

I have to admit that I have played this over and over and over again. Maybe around 50 times. I just love it. I find it VERY inspirational (as if you cannot tell). But, apart from that, I had a reason for playing it over and over.

And now I want to tie this in with something that YOU can use. This is the moment of serendipity that I mentioned earlier on.

You see Kate Ceberano’s father is Tino Ceberano – one of the highest ranked karate instructors in Australia and, in fact, the world.

You may have gathered that I am also a karate exponent. Over my 37 years of teaching I have taught many thousands of people and taken hundreds of self defense classes. During that time I have tried to teach many, many very timid people. This was actually something that I found almost impossible to do – until one day…

… I came upon the principle of transference. And that made all the difference. I was able to turn the frightened doves into predatory hawks. The timid became the bold. I won’t go into how I achieved that here because it will take too long to explain.

So, how can you take advantage of this with something that you are wanting to do? Simple. Find something that inspires or motivates you and transfer that exhilaration into your own performance. Try it. You can do it.

I can’t speak highly enough of this. Yes, I’m totally besotted by it. Brilliant song. Brilliantly performed. (And it helped me create something pretty special of my own).

Our lives are so busy. Most people, in the mad scramble to make the money to fund their mere existence, stop taking time to experience the simple pleasures of life. Or they feel too worn out. And this little tip would be one of the simplest and cheapest of them all – take time out occasionally to enjoy yourself. Go to a movie.

I have just returned from the cinema where I saw “The Girl Who Played With Fire.” It was the second in the Millenium trilogy, based on the Stieg Larssen series of books. It’s sub-titled and I have to be honest here – unless you have read the book, which I have, you might struggle to understand the story. But that is NOT the point. The point is this…

… when you watch a movie you can dissolve all the problems of your day or even your life for just a few hours. It’s much better than renting a movie or watching some junk on TV because…

… at the movies you are not going to be interrupted by somebody knocking on your door or by that other intrusive nuisance – the infernal mobile phone! Or cell phone as our American friends prefer to call it.

Have you ever been interrupted like that during a movie at home and then tried to get back into the story? Not good is it? That won’t happen to you at the cinema. (Well… HOPEFULLY it won’t. I’ve actually observed some very rude people speaking on cell phones in cinemas – and doing other very anti-social things. But they are an ignorant minority – THANKFULLY!)

Another bonus of going to the movies is that you don’t have to put up with stupid advertisements every five minutes. Does that annoy anybody else? One thing I have observed is the bigger the promotion that they give some show on TV the more they will PUNISH you with advertisements – five minutes of viewing and five minutes of dopey commercials. And some of them are so LAME! And they repeat them over and over again just in case you didn’t see them the first time. DUH!

Back to the movies…

A couple of movie tickets on an el-cheapo night at the cinema might set you back $7 to $10 a piece and a couple of those cinema ice creams might cost you another $4 or $5 a piece.

It all makes for a pretty cheap night out. And if you go with friends you can always go for a tea or coffee afterwards and have a chat about what you just saw.

I try to go a couple of times a month. I wait until there is something that looks decent – which isn’t all that easy sometimes – LOL! Often there is a barrage of junk movies and then several good ones come out at once. Funny how that happens, huh?

I’d give “The Girl Who Played With Fire” a 7. It’s a bit less enjoyable than the first one – “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” which I think I rated about 9. Oh, one other thing… some movies can inspire you or give you ideas. That will happen when you are relaxed and your mind is “free” to roam.

If there is one thing that I see time and time again that confuses people and ultimately leads them into inactivity and quitting (online AND offline) then it’s the dreaded INFORMATION OVERLOAD.

Quite simply, when most people are presented with too much information to process their brains do what comes easiest and they simply shut down.

In particular, with Internet Marketing there just seems so much to learn – article marketing, blogging, html, video production, clickbank, squidoo, adsense, adswaps, adwords, payspree, forums, RAP, ebay – it NEVER seems to end. And then, of course, we all get the NEVER ending torrent of emails – most of them trying to sell us the panacea to all our frustrations. And ALL of them are selling something DIFFERENT. Who do you believe? What do you believe?

Let me ask you this… have YOU felt overloaded? Has it caused you to become frustrated? Or to back away? Or even to give up temporarily? Or just give up altogether?

I have often said that most people trying to make it online are trying to stuff what is tantamount to a four year university course into four months or four weeks. Or for some very impatient people – four days! They charge like a bull and make massive progress. Then they sit back for a rest and watch for the results…

… and the results do not come. Then they get frustrated, angry and even jealous of people who seemingly are succeeding online. And then some even become vindictive and even spiteful.

And some resort to “black hat” techniques, cons and cheating. Well, some will do that anyway. It’s just the way they are, unfortunately.

I see this offline too, though it is nowhere near as obvious as what can easily be observed online. Perhaps the most obvious parallel offline is in multi-level-marketing (MLM). Yes, I’ve been there too – reaching senior ranks.

But I have also seen it in martial arts. Being a practitioner of martial arts for more than 40 years, I have seen thousands of people come and go. I have seen very talented people simply burn themselves out too fast by trying to go too fast. And I have seen plodders extract every ounce out of their limited ability and succeed.

Slow and steady may not win a race but slow and steady will eventually see you over the finishing line. And, when you have a base, you can start to add the stories of success to that base. But… if you don’t have a base because you have been far too “busy” to become successful in anything then HOW can you transfer that winning character into anything else? How can you build without a foundation?

It’s like trying to build a skyscraper on a shifting base of sand. Without a solid foundation – built by taking TIME to do it properly – you might reach a certain height but the first earth tremor or high wind (read that as challenge) will see your building come crashing down. Along with your confidence.

Here’s the lesson in all this – do ONE thing at a time and do it PROPERLY. Get that done and then move on to the NEXT thing. Don’t flit around like a bee collecting pollen.

Go slowly and methodically. When you rush you make mistakes. And the BIGGEST mistake you will ever make (on anything – online or offline) is to give up.

Winners never quit (though they may change course) and quitters never win.

In conjunction with my last blog post, I’ve been reflecting upon my online presence over the last couple of weeks and I have come to a decision. Well, a realization more than anything else…

… I have become side-tracked. Side-tracked by the whole “making money online” fiasco.

It’s a niche that is filled with smoke and mirrors. And that’s NOT who I am. Or where I want to be. Not that I believe that I have ever deceived anyone. So, I’ve made a decision…

… I am returning to my roots, so to speak. Motivation and self esteem. That is the thing that interests me. That is where I have done many years of research and have gathered a lot of knowledge and information. And, it’s where I see myself helping the most people.

You see, when everything is boiled down to the lowest common denominator this is the area where most people have their greatest challenge – believing in themselves.

That’s not to say that I won’t promote other things that I believe will help people online (or offline) – but they have to be worthy. I just refuse to jump on the madcap promote-everything-to-make-a-buck bandwagon. You know… the next BIG thing. Next BIG launch. Screw that. Not interested. That’s a highway to hell. And it’s insincere.

So, in conjunction with my new website – www.journeylifedestiny.com – I am going to be offering a series of ideas, hints and tips on how I believe you can become more successful online AND offline. Translate that as “more successful in life overall.” And here is my first offering to you…

Be yourself! Don’t try to conform to other people’s expectations, standards, pressure or anything else. You will always have your followers and you will always have your detractors. You will even have haters.

You are YOU! You are a unique individual. There is NOBODY in the entire world exactly like you. You have your faults and you have your talents.

Work on your faults. We ALL have them. I have them. So do you. But – by the same token – HONE your skills. Sharpen them. Turn them into razors. And learn NEW skills. The day you stop improving and learning is the day you start decaying. NOTHING stays in limbo. Everything is either growing or shrinking.

There is something that you can do better than almost everybody else that you know. Find it. Nurture it. Grow it. Become the AUTHORITY in it. Become the “go-to” person. And, if you haven’t found that mission in life yet then make it your mission to FIND IT!
