Zen Garden > Wealth - What Are You Trading Your Life For?Have you ever wondered what you are trading your life for? It's a good question, isn't it?Have you ever wondered what you are trading your life for? It's a good question, isn't it? I have devised a formula that will tell anybody what they are really trading their life for. You see, most people have a completely over-inflated opinion of what that trade is really worth. They exaggerate their wealth to make themselves feel good. I guess it's good to make yourself feel good but who are you really fooling? I'll tell you. You are only fooling yourself. You see, there will come a time when you have to survive on your savings because government pensions are virtually a thing of the past. If there are going to be pensions by the time that you retire then you will be absolutely horrified at how small they will be. You will be lucky to be able to survive for one day on it. So, what do you do? Well, one way is start accumulating assets now so that when your service life - that is, your working years - comes to an end and no employer wants to keep you on the payroll, you will have enough to be able to survive on. Retirement schemes are OK but how many times do you hear that some crook has fiddled the books? And no government can stop doing their own fiddling with retirement funds either. They change the rules all the time and you have to be a full-time genius in that area even to understand what the entitlements are. The ONLY sure way is to look after your own interests. And there is no better time to start than immediately. You definitely need time ON your side rather than working against you. So, what are you trading your life for? Are you selling it expensively or are you doing what most people are doing? That is, trading your hours for a mere pittance. Once you know exactly what you have been trading your life for you will then have a benchmark from which to do better in the future. And once you know how you can monitor it to make sure you are always improving. Remember this - if you cant measure it then you can't manage it! Tattoo that on your brain. It is one of the best pieces of advice that I have ever received. I bet you will be shocked at the rate at which you have been silently and ignorantly selling your life away for. Most people are. When they see it all laid down before them then they get the "kick up the backside" that they need to go out and make some vast improvements. You might think that you are worth $25, $50, $75 or even $100 per hour but I'll bet that the figure is NOWHERE near even $2 per hour. For most people it less than one miserable dollar per hour. How can you get wealthy on that?
