Here is my review of The Secret...There has been so much publicity given to the documentary called "The Secret" so I, like hundreds of thousands of others expecting something wonderful, went out an purchased a copy. That set me back around $50. No matter. I am an information treasure hunter. That means that I willingly pay to learn the things that interest me. I have always been like that. My quest for knowledge has probably cost me more than $50,000 over the years. I consider that as money well spent! As you might expect my book and magazine and video and cassette and DVD libraries are MASSIVE. Although I wasn't disappointed with the content of the DVD of The Secret, really, I have to say that it didn't contain anything startlingly new for me. The concept of the "Law of Attraction" or LOA, as it is sometimes known, and of manifestation is very prevalent in The Secret. These concepts were something I learned almost 20 years ago when I participated in my first Bob Proctor self development course. The Secret is rather repetitive in its content. Its featured presenters continually say the same thing over and over again. I guess that is to attempt to get its main point across - ATTRACTING what you want into your life by concentrating on it strongly. And there are various methods for doing this. This is also the premise behind Napoleon Hill's famous book called "Think and Grow Rich." It is also the premise behind my own manual called "How to Stop Wasting Your Life and Start Getting What You Want." I must say that I am surprised at the popularity of The Secret. I asked at the store where I purchased my copy how many copies of The Secret they had sold. I was told around 2,000. Hmm. That was ONE outlet in ONE city. I can only surmise that the owner of The Secret, Rhonda Byrne, is doing very nicely out of this. In reality, The Secret is not such a secret at all. The Secret is beautifully filmed. However, the continual utterances of whispered "secret, secret, secret" throughout the production does become tiresome after a while. In judgement I will rate The Secret at a 7 out of 10 overall but much lower for those who already knew all about the so-called Secret. Was it a waste of $50 for me? No. Definitely not. It was good to confirm what I already knew.
