Imagine this... you write a wonderful article about a subject that you are passionate about. You do a spell check, a punctuation check, a grammar check and then you edit the article over and over to get it just how you want it. It's perfect. You are SO proud of it. Now here comes the HAMMER...

You are SO proud of your article. It's informative, it's technically correct and it says a lot about you, the author.

In essence, it is a little piece of YOU - a piece of your intellect. When you put it on your own website or on an article repository you can be justifiably proud.

Now imagine this... some website owner or ezine owner or blogger likes your article so much that they copy it and put it on their site or ezine or blog.

If they do that then they KNOW (an this is an INTERNATIONAL copyright CONVENTION) that they absolutely MUST link back to your website through a device known as the "resource box." The resource box is where you get to advertize yourself, your wares and your website.

Now here comes the HAMMER...

Rogue website owners, ezine owners and bloggers take your article, strip away the resource box with all its links and use YOUR work EXCLUSIVELY for their own GREED.

Sometimes they will retain the resource box but DEADEN the links. That is, they are no longer live and can no longer be clicked on for a visitor to be taken to your site.

This is happening with INCREASING incidence!

If you want to see exactly who is RIPPING YOU OFF then do this:

Enclose your article title or the first few sentences of your article in apostrophes and then do a Google or Yahoo search. Enclosing these words in apostrophes will force the search engine to return only EXACT matches on all websites.

Visit the sites that are carrying your articles and check to see how many are illegally using your intellectual and copyrighted property.

Copyright theft is ILLEGAL. The people who are doing this are committing fraud. You should take action against them. Apart from being illegal, what they are doing is morally and ethically wrong.

So, will you do this or will you just let them keep ripping you off? It's your choice.
