As I said at the beginning of this topic, do NOT let the rather weird title of this book put you off. I was speaking with Garry Parkes about it just before I finished this post and I mentioned to him that Maxwell Maltz's Psycho Cybernetics would be in my TOP 5 motivation and self esteem books. I recommend that everybody should read it. It is simply superb.

Thank you for this reminder. I know you recommended this book to me, and I haven’t yet got a copy – it has been on my list of things to do.
So now I shall go rummaging.
And still need more tea.
Anyway, on the same lines, although probably not as indepth is Adam Khoo’s book Master Your Mind; Design Your Destiny. I’ve found that to be a very useful resource.
Amazon (UK) are doing the Psycho Cybernetics book for £9.99 incidentally (yes, I’m multitasking while typing as always!).
March 17th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
PS – Ebay have got it for about £5 plus £3 p&p

PPS – as for the Happiness Affirmation – I generally find that I wake up smiling every day anyway due to the thoughts and images in my mind…but that’s enough of that. I’m distracted enough today without going down that path!!
*Sitting on hands now…*

Wow! This only just went up and I see you have already pounced Nix! I’m impressed. let’s see:
Nikki 1 – Yes, you simply must read this book. maybe even your local library will have one. More tea? YES!
Nikki 2 – Thanks for the research! I so wish I had written this book. It is such a marvel. (Am I selling it well enough?)
Nikki 3 – Confucious say, “Sitting on hands one way to certain happiness.” Or was that TGM? PML!

I’m good at pouncing on things as soon as they go up. Just one of my many talents.
March 17th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Nikki – you can only guess at the amount of giggling I am doing at that last comment of yours. Oh deary, deary me (as he rubs hand on forehead).
Hmm, maybe wrong thing to say. One has to be SO careful around the RHRLTGPMW.

Well PMW, I did see that MA did a very “in-depth” expose on how to get rid of a migraine on a video on YouTube a couple of weeks ago. It involved tapping certain points of the body – temples, wrists etc. The video went for a round 15 minutes so I am sure you would glean something out of it.
Sorry you have a headache BTW.

I was thinking more of something that will definitely work.
Like going to bed with a huge……mug of tea, and sleeping it off.

You and your T!

Ha – I think actually that one belongs to you – so I think it should be “You and Your T”.
PMSL here BTW!

I think I am going psycho here, cybernetically.

“Of all the things I’ve lost, I miss my mind the most” (Ozzy Osbourne I believe). Fairly apt for me at the mo.

Hey Gary
WOW!!! That is some book your recommending. I best rush to Amazon.co.uk once I write this comment – As I speak, Amazon.co.uk Next day delivery deadline is in 23 minutes time.
Btw, the excerpts you picked out are most wonderful and somehow it flowed so well like it was part of one page and taken out from various sections of the book.
Thanks again Gary, for sharing your wisdom with us.
Best Wishes
Nigel

Excellent book. For anyone that has not read it, this one is a MUST READ.
The title –lol — psycho (of the mind) and cybernetics (to control). That’s literally what it teaches – control of the mind.
If possible, get the original version, not the new Dan Kennedy version. The original is better and it’s only $7.99 on amazon.
You’ll laugh at the way he describes computers given that it’s written in 1960, but the lessons on the human mind are amazing. Much of his hypothesis have since been proved true.
Thanks for the reminder. I’ve bought this little book for my daughter and several sisters. I’m going to re-read my copy.

@ Nigel – I selected those excerpts to read that way. They are all sequential within the book – ie in order. Thanks for recognising that.
@ Linda – Thanks for the back up support on this. I often buy books like this for relatives and friends. They think I am quite mad. I can tell by their body language that they will never read these books. Well, we can lead the proverbial horse to water huh?
Oh, I noticed the involvement with Dan Kennedy many months ago. For those who don’t know – Dan Kennedy is a renowned top marketer – offline and online. He has been for more than 20 years. Hmm, if a guy like him wants an association with this book, what does that hint at?
Here’s another very subtle hint from me – READ THE GODDAM BOOK!
Maxwell Malt’z timeless classic, Psycho Cybernetics, will teach you so much.

Thanks for the recommendation, TGM. I’ve heard of it, but don’t have it in my library, yet.
I also like Wayne Dyer and Dale Carnegie.
The tapping you described in a reply to Nikki sounds like EFT/Emotional Freedom Technique. Are you familiar with it? It would work well with your happiness affirmation.

Hi Theresa – TGM! It’s so much easier, isn’t it?
Oh get “Psycho Cybernetics!” You will be SO glad you did! Awesome book.
Yes, I have been aware of EFT for a long time. Actually, I gotta say, my HAPPINESS AFFIRMATION works like a charm as is. Try it. It’s incredible. But if EFT makes it better… then so be it – whatever works!
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Gary,
As you know I love reading books to do with self improvement of personal development. I must say though with a title like ‘Psycho Cybernetics’ if I have seen it in a book shop I would probably have run a mile, lol … as it’s not the most endearing of titles is it?
But, if TGM recommends it I will definitely be getting it at the earliest opportunity.
Thanks for letting us all know about it.
Garry.
March 18th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
@ Garry – This will expand your mind like no other book you have ever read. I agree with you – pity about the title. It’s pretty lame by any stretch of the imagination (even one like mine…). No doubt you would have heard of that word “cybernetics” somewhere else. Think Garry. Where was it? (Hint: The sort of word a king might use).
Gary
March 18th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
If Linda recommends the original version then I shall go rummaging for that.
Incidentally, anyone know the main differences between the original one and the updated one with Dan Kennedy?
Thoughts please?
March 18th, 2009 at 1:47 pm
@ PMW – Yeah DK bought the rights to it (from memory). So, being the uber-marketer that he is, he will undoubtedly have liberally included all sorts of links to his own advertising stuff.
How are things at the Lair BTW? I see it is having a structural revamp of sorts. When may we expect to see all the furniture re-arranged?
TGM
March 18th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Ah yes. Things are happening over at the Lair (er, when are things not happening over there?!).
All shall be revealed soon…

Gary( or should I say the writer formerly known as Gazz-Man..?)
You have mentioned a book that I first read more years ago than I care to admit. I am glad however that I have had the benefit of the knowledge it imparts for such a long time. I echo 100% the high praise given by you and Linda.
There exists a small group of books that have had a profound effect upon my approach to life and understanding of the power that the mind can have in our daily activities. This book is amoung those at the top of the list.

Gary,
Once again a great article. I to must admit I have not read this one. I will go out asap and find it to read. I use affirmations all of the time. They have change my life in a lot of ways.
Sorry I have not been around much lately, dealing with medical problems and still dealing with fall out from my infamous post.
I will be around a lot more now. Did a lot of planning and am getting ready to re-introduce my site. Have to make some changes and get a hold of Linda for some help
Have a great day Gary,
Thom

@ Nikki – Ah, finally getting around to cleaning a few cobwebs out at the lair, huh? Good to see.
BTW, I saw your comments over at Parkesy‘s blog about his change of theme – about bloody time huh? I mean… if he wants to compare with my “Temple” and your “Lair” and Denis Caron‘s “Portal” then he needs to lift his game – a LOT! And he needs some totally AWESOME identifying name (that’s gonna get his creative mind pumping – LOL)
Oh and, Nix, I noticed he has now asked for your permission – the CHEEK of that guy – not consulting with you FIRST! Jeez, some people…
@ Ken – well I was just gonna refer to myself as “the acronym” but that seemed stupid coz it was longer than Gazz-Man so I settled for TGM. (Maybe a symbol would be good like ∞ but Prince tried that and failed. LOL!)
Silliness aside, Psycho Cybernetics is indeed a paramount book. I will be featuring my top ten at various intervals here and Maxwell Maltz‘s tome of brilliance is indeed well inside that top ten.
@ Thom – I have been somewhat concerned about you my friend. But I knew you would be able to handle whatever anyone threw at you. You don’t get to the level of TKD that you have by being a doormat for trumped up imbeciles (no need to reply to that last bit).
If you need Linda Caroll‘s contact just let me know, though I expect you may have her email addy by now anyway. When Linda takes to your site you will set some eyeballs poppin’ – and Google will come a knockin’. LOL!
Oh, BTW Thom, do you remember my comment a while back about “a man’s gotta be what a man’s gotta be,” or a woman? Well, check out my new look Twitter page – http://twitter.com/TheGazzMan.

Morning Gazza,
‘Lift my Game’ – yeah right.
You should be ‘Afraid, very afraid’
The new Blog Theme will be up today/tomorrow. Just got a shed load of project work to do today.
But in good Arnie tradition …….
“I’ll be back…”
Garry
PS. Well done on getting over 2,000 Twitter Follwers Gary. Just noticed it. Must be that new Twitter theme that’s attracting them
Not been able to get on Twitter myself over last couple of days since I went through 10k. But I’ll be on there later.
March 20th, 2009 at 9:25 am
@ Garry – Oh deary me! You’re talking to ME Parkesy. ME! “Be afraid?” Afraid of WHAT? LOL!
Seriously, I can’t wait to see your new blog theme. You know I only do that sh*t to egg you on. I’m sure it will be very impressive (though it simply will NOT match the regalness and majesty of the TEMPLE).
BTW, thanks for the Twitter compliment. I did say I was gonna get into that. Your comments were helpful in that regard too Garry. They pretty much confirmed what I was thinking about it. I reckon I have that Twitter stuff nutted now. Watch me burn-the-turf there. LOL!
A bit of ribbing and decent rivalry is good, I think (Hmm, left a bit of an opening there for a certain person, I think – just realised it but can’t be bothered back-tracking and thinking about or inserting alternative words – let’s just let the cards fall where they have).
Get that new theme up Parkesy!
