Internet Marketing – 20 BIG Differences Between Winners and Losers
by Gary ~ January 16th, 2009
Alex Jeffreys (apprentice GOO-ROO, not GNU Mr Garry Parkes) is off on a well-earned vacation in sunny Florida, USA while the rest of us are here still hard at it building our blogs and loading them with content anxiously awaiting his return. Well, some of us are.
You see, I have noticed something, something rather normal actually. While the cat’s away most of the mice … do bugger all. I see it in business all the time. When the boss or supervisor vacates the premises, most of the staff slacken off. Well, let me tell you something here. This is YOUR business. YOU are the boss.
I have been my own boss now for almost 20 years and I know that the face you see in the mirror every morning can be the hardest boss of all time (very rare – as in workaholics – eg the person typing all this up for you) or the easiest boss of all time (yeah, I think I’ll go and have a surf, play golf, hang out at the club, blah, blah, blah…)
Well, if you build your business to the level that Alex Jeffreys has, or Rich Scheffren has or Newt Skobernacker has or Mike Filsaime has or Michael Cheney has then yeah, maybe it will run largely on auto-pilot without a lot of your presence. But in the early days YOU should be hussling.
So, I have compiled a little check-list for you to look over. This is just to let you think about how you might like to go about things and what is gonna separate the winners from the losers. Sorry to use that term folks but there are always gonna be winners and, unfortunately, losers in every endeavour in life.
I think there is a lot of learning to be had here in this 20 point check list that I have constructed for you. So here is my 20 point list that discerns the difference between winners and losers. You can learn very quickly here why winners win and losers lose just by checking this list…
- Winners have dogged determination. Losers lack the ability to see any project through to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Winners never give up, give in or surrender. Losers quit the moment things get the slightest bit difficult.
- Winners make exceptional use of available time. Losers waste time engaging in useless activities.
- Winners plan and map their route to success. Losers consider plans belong to builders and maps belong in glove-boxes.
- Winners take responsibility for all outcomes. Losers shun responsibility and prefer to place blame on others.
- Winners commence a task at the earliest opportunity. Losers procrastinate, delay and run out of time.
- Winners learn from their own mistakes and the experience of others. Losers make the same mistakes over and over again.
- Winners are committed to projects. Losers display whimsical interest.
- Winners make things happen. Losers watch things happen.
- Winners are pro-active. Losers are re-active.
- Winners have vision and imagination. Losers are backward looking and lack initiative.
- Winners encourage and inspire others. Losers criticize and ridicule others.
- Winners are methodical and organized. Losers are haphazard and slipshod.
- Winners seek information and embrace new knowledge. Losers ignore better methods, concepts and ideas.
- Winners ask: “How can I do that?” Losers state: “How do you expect me to do that?”
- Winners invest in income producing assets. Losers waste money on depreciating consumer goods.
- Winners develop 5, 10, 20, 30 years of experience. Losers repeat one year of experience 5, 10, 20, 30 times.
- Winners continually push existing limits and boundaries. Losers feel comfortable operating below their self-imposed ceilings.
- Winners take calculated risks. Losers take hazardous gambles.
- Winners are inspired to do more to be more. Losers conspire to do less and not be noticed.
Now, if you want you can print the Gazz-Man’s check-list, take a pen and give yourself a tick or a cross against each of the 20 points above. There is only ONE requirement – be honest. That is another characteristic of winners – they are honest with themselves.
I welcome any discussion on any of the twenty points listed above. But, can we just stick to one or two coz if you address EVERY point or even every second point this is gonna get horrendously large and messy very quickly. In fact, it may be wise just to pick ONE point and give it a darn good hammering!
Maybe, without naming names, you might work with someone who displays a characteristic listed above. Wanna get it off your chest?
Or, maybe you would like to discuss some of the principles that Alex Jeffreys has been teaching in his Internet Marketing course.
You can even RANT if you want. Come on. Who wants to have a red hot crack? I won’t censor anything so long as it doesn’t hurt an individual.

Hi Gary,
I think no one could argue with the 20 points you make.
I find it particularly interesting that the paltry number of votes in your poll in the previous post. Now your site is very active as we know and gets a lot of viewers.
Is the involvement in the poll indicative of point 9 in your list (or possibly point 8 as well)?
PS. Oh, and it’s definitely Gnu NOT Guru! It must be true as I saw it on the tele. The TV never lies does it? Are you saying my video is not based on factual information, LOL

Garry,
I have no idea why you keep going into moderation. Some email addys are doing that and some are not. I have unchecked you now every time. I honestly do not know why this is happening. It’s certainly no trick or anything.
I don’t want your posts hung up in moderation. I want them here coz you always have something decent to say, well… usually – LOL!

Gary
January 16th, 2009 at 9:36 am
Ask Q – se if he knows why.
I think there is a setting somewhere in Wordpress that says if a post by someone has gone into moderation than all subsequent ones do until you remove them from some blocklist somewhere. I had one go in to moderation last week here, because I put an URL in and since then there has been problems.
I’ll have a dig around myself in Wordpress see if I can find anything.

Hmm,
This is weird. Could there be a ghost at my temple?
Garry, your PS came through to the blog before your main comment which was hung up in there. So, again I have given it the tick of approval. Why would your second post be approved and the first one not. This is a bit of a mystery.
Anyway, I am now answering your first post…
Regarding your question, perhaps. That was one of the reasons I slapped this page up quick coz I was kinda a bit concerned that the lack of votes may make some people just read and click away. AND DID YOU SEE THOSE LOSERS who HATE him? WTF? What is WRONG with people?
I dunno. Like I said to somebody the other day, even Jesus Christ was crucified. Just goes to show, you will NEVER please everyone, huh.
Thanks for being so quick off the mark with this. It’s only been up a little while. Oh, you did miss one little thing. I will email you and you will p155 yourself laughing about it…
Just another quirky little freebie toss-away from the Gazz-Man! LOL.

PS to your last comment above – I have done ALL that several times. Notice that your latest post beat me to the submit? It’s obviously working OK now. We’ll, see what happens when you come back next time.
Gary
January 16th, 2009 at 10:22 am
Yep, that’s even weirder. Have you run it by Q to see if he can suggest why?
And yes I’ve already replied to your email noticing what I missed.
I don’t think I will be the last, LOL.

King Gary, Self Proclaimed Lord of the Lemurs, etc etc
I might have to try to find that clip for you on YouTube, it’s a ridiculously silly film which is why I like it.
Please can I unleash it now?! Honestly, it’s annoying me more and more each time I see reference to it! Come on, it’s Friday morning here which means it’s nearly the weekend for me…as I’m sure you’ve realised, patience isn’t a virtue of mine!
Anyway – re your post above. I am guilty of 3 and 6. The rest I think I’m pretty good on, although I have to concede to not being in the right mindset for the past couple of days. However, at least I can recognise that, and I’ve now got a plan for some developments over at the Lair of Temptation. It will have to wait until next Thurs / Fri (for reasons of lack of internet access), but rest assured I won’t be sitting around doing nothing until then.

PS – what kind of party shall we have over at mine?
PPS – have you seen Denis’ brilliant comment over on my blog?!
January 16th, 2009 at 11:10 am
Hi again
Just thought that I had to reply to this before I tackle my marking…
I printed off the list, filled it in honestly and will look at it again to inspire me at certain times when I’m feeling a bit down about things.
Many of the things I could honestly tick the winners side of the equation, but quite a few of them I felt that I was somewhere in between winner and loser.
For example no.3 – Winners make exceptional use of available time. Losers waste time engaging in useless activities.
I know that the operative word in the winner half is ‘available’ and some of us have far more than others. However I suppose that I am a ’sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t’ sort of person.
People have often said that they are amazed by how many things I manage to get done, but I know that I procrastinate and get side tracked and I don’t like that. But then hey, I’m not perfect (?!?) and as long as I keep going then hopefully I can train myself to get better at it (so that adds in numbers 4 & 6 on the list)
Probably the one I liked the most was no 17. I hope that I am constantly building on my experience, but I see so many people who flit from one thing to another and don’t realise what they are missing out on.
I have quite a few students who bunked off or were excluded from school. Their literacy and numeracy skills are often poor and I spend time trying to help them to improve.
Unfortunately I cannot do in a year what they have missed out on in several years at school. But if I can get them to say “Oh I understand that now” then what I do is worthwhile.
We all have different things that give us forward momentum – often these students will say to me “I hated school but now I realise that I need to learn this if I want to get a good job etc”.
It’s not easy in the timescale I have available, but boy, do I get a buzz out of helping them to achieve or to understand something that has previously eluded them.
The more I think about what I am doing here, the more I feel that I shall go down the route of some kind of support / mentoring / teaching rather than directly selling.
That is my bag and this course and interaction has helped me to focus on that. The comments I have had from others too seem to back that up.
I want to be a winner and I want to help others to be a winner too.
Hope you don’t mind me putting this down – it just helps me to be accountable to you all and to focus my attention where it needs to be going.
Must go and do that marking now!

That’s a really motivational post! Thank you, because putting all of that down helps those of us that read it as well (and dare I say those of us that NEED it).

Hi Gary,
Great post, I like to look at myself as a winner, the difficulties that I find can be encountered are other people ….
It can also be very difficult to find a balance, I work hard offline sometimes 60 hours+ a week ….
You try to find the time to have quality time with loved ones, but need to be focused on the online business ….
This is why I posted my online goals on my blog, so I can remained focused ….
Till now I can’t blame my beautiful wife, because in the past I continually fell on my a**
I know that I should have been falling foward lol !!
It has been a pleasure to help some members of the F500 get to where they want to be …..
What they may not have realised is they have actually helped me more than they know …..
As it has given me the drive to power forward ……
I Will get my product launched by end of February 09
I Will work hard to achieve the remainder of my online goals ..
I Will continue to learn as I work
I Will (I hope lol ! ) prove to my beautiful wife and others that 2009 is the year that I will be successfull online, and as I have read on various blogs the money will chase me!
I truly believe I am a WINNER as I have always worked hard no matter what I try my hand at ……
Lastly, I WILL continue to be there to offer help and support to those that need it ……
Why?
Simply, I know that what goes around comes around ….. and
I will always look to make a difference in people’s in life where I can
Be Positive
Be Focused
Never stop trying
Use your support network
Most of all believe in yourself, because if you don’t how can anyone else believe in you?
And remember that those that are successful online
As you are, they were …… As they are, you WILL be
End of Lesson, Gazz-Man, look at what your posts are making me do
Cheers
Tommy

Thanks Nikki
Just seem to be following you around today!
Talking about procrastination..
I had been putting off doing my marking and thought I had better do it as the students are in this afternoon.
I thought that there was quite a lot in the pile to be marked. When I went to look, there were in fact only two pieces to mark and I had already done one of them!
Duh!!
Why am I always telling my children to get on with their homework straight away and I don’t do mine?
Is it any wonder that we have last minute scrambles like at 8am today my son was searching for a jar to put some bright coloured objects in for his art class – he had known about this since last week and I was determined that I wouldn’t say anything to make him learn the lesson of doing things straight away.
I think I need to keep learning that lesson too!
I will get better with practice.
I am really motivated by so much that is said both here and in other places – that is the great thing about this group. Long may it continue.

January 16th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
Gazz, you forgot one thing. A person can do okay on all 20 of those and still get nowhere if they don’t know the difference between action and progress. The world is full of people that are working hard, busy all day – and getting nowhere fast.
January 16th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Q, I think this relates to Alex’s description of being a ‘busy fool’ – i.e. working hard (action), but not actually getting anywhere (progress).
Am I on the right track?
Nix
January 16th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
Whoa…
Folks, Q is in the house!
Wow. This is a rare treat indeed.
Thank you for making that comment and you are absolutely correct.
Thank you so much for just making an impromptu visit. Brief but to the point, as always.
I wasn’t expecting this at all. I know you are so busy with “things.” LOL!
Gary
January 16th, 2009 at 12:47 pm
Thanks Gary for the list and the short blog post.
Winners are passionate in what they are doing. If you have to struggle all the time you will end up exhausted.
I like lists (also easy to read). And winners are always making lists.
I’m not that good in English and I am happy learning the new word “dogged”, I first related it with “dogging”. But that was totally wrong, luckely.

January 16th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
Nix I’m gonna get you a cyber-bed on my blog. LOL! Nikki I went to read 3 & 6 and I had to laugh. That is coz you are always HERE! And the lemur thing, that was rather amusing. Your post over on Parkesy’s blog made me ROTFPML. That was very good humour. Devious but good nevertheless. Haven’t clicked on that link yet – been too busy but will do so over the weekend. Which reminds me – are you gonna think about what I said re: the niche?
Just attended your blog and gave my idea of what you would be “draped in” according to Denis’s lead. Oh, the mind boggles. It really, truly does. Nice bit of creative writing by Denis too. I see Tommy Mc in the waiting room too. He seems to be a bit nervous. So, I gotta ask the question Nix. Um, how many are you, er, “entertaining” over there with your, um, considerable charms?
January 16th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
Nix… you’re spot on. People like feeling busy. They just forget to check if they’re making progress.
Gazz… came to check up on you and noticed that I’d forgotten to specify the OL (specs on a numbered list) in my CSS. Then I read the list. No cyber bed for Nix. Leather easy chairs and laptops for everyone.
January 16th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
I thought we’d already discussed the bed issue in a previous post? You offered me L or R and I asked for on top.
I’m having to sit on my hands to not make any references to Ali’s comment above & the initial confusion…
I still maintain that at least if I can see the problems, then that’s a good start! Not like I can see my feet most of the time, but at least I can see problems.
Anyway…moving on. Yes, I have given it some thought. As always I think you have a very fair point there, and I’ll answer you in more depth. Being greedy as I am I would also like to identify something a little more mainstream too – but working out what that could be has got me stumped at the mo. Partially because I’m working at the same time as typing this!
Nix
January 16th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
Q – I know I’m guilty of that myself!
Liking the sound of the leather easy chairs and laptops for everyone – could we also have a kettle and a fridge so that I can keep myself going with lots of cups of tea?
Thanks!
Nix
January 16th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
Hillary – That was one of the most remarkable posts that anyone has laid down on the Gazz-Man’s blog.
I found it clear, fluent and a pleasure to read. I want to use this as an example of excellent writing. You can all learn from this.
As a piece of writing just look at it folks – look at the “openness” of it – not all jammed up like a lawyer’s letter. You know the ones – just one giant paragraph running from the top LHS of the page right down to the bottom RHS of the page with no punctuation.
I found myself nodding to all that you said. Yes #17 is a personal favourite of mine. I wrote that after a conversation one day with a person who had just been doing the same thing for 30 years or so and was a dinosaur in his work. He had one year of growth and 29 years of repetition. And it showed.
Thanks Hilary.
Gary

Q – I noticed straight away after I came back from the gym that you had tidied that list coz when I left it the numbers were partially under the side bar. That looks so much better. Thanks a mill.
Gary
January 16th, 2009 at 1:24 pm

Thank you for coming by.
Gary
January 16th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
Oh Nix – I can just imagine you sitting on your hands and I know exactly why.
Um try this – Take the “l” out of lover and it’s over. Now, put the “i” into dogged and it’s …
Now, I know you know where to put it. LOL.
No need to reply. Truly. You don’t REALLY have to. I mean it’s not compulsory. Don’t feel obligated. I won’t think you are rude if you don’t. Seriously. It’s OK.

Indeed Garry – a little surprise visit. Most unusual.
Well, in answer to your incorrect answer that is not the answer but you got the little prezzie anyway. I trust you received it. The REAL answer is just a little more devious than that. Work 5% harder and you will discover it.
Hey, guess what? Deano flashed in here a little while ago “woohoo bro’d” me and then out he went. I tell ya Gazza, he is up to something. I know it. He mentioned something about a site and I “think” he was intimating to me that maybe he also has a “Death Star” under construction. I am now going to test the URL for woohoo.com – LOL!

Hey Gary
Firstly thanks for such a great post again and also the in-depth review about “The Secret” just as I thought, it was a hype, still a very good one too and like you said, a lot of things can be said on how they advertised and launched it.
Talking of launches, just finished re-writing my new ebook which was derived from a plr guide.
Speak soon
Nigel
PS: I got rid of the flash intro – lol!
January 16th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Hi Nigel – It’s still a good read but you just need to know that it is not a be-all, end-all treatise on success – far from it, in fact.
When do we see the e-book? Title?

Good grief Gary,
I stay away for one day and all hell breaks loose, cracking post matey. You know the strangest thing has happened to me since my very early morning post about a lack of focus.
My eyes are so wide at the moment and I dare not even catch a glimpse of the sun for fear of permanent damage. The ebook that I downloaded from you the other day has lots a lots of completed sheets already, I know it´s going to be invaluable to me.
In the past 48 hours I have managed to get more accomplished than I had in the previous 5 days !!
The blog looks incredible Gary very very impressive. I had to laugh a the comment Nikki placed on Garrys blog this morning with the reference to Lemurs tails, bloody hilarious, as you say that young lady is as sharp as knife !
With regard to your poll I quickly voted myself as an Alex fan, but have yet to post a comment to the effect.
You know it truly amazes me how many w*****s there are skulking around just waiting for the chance to knock somebody down, why do they feel the need to do it ???
I cannot believe these idiots would even have read any of Alex´s books, or maybe it´s because non of Alex´s material comes with a matching crayon set.
I still don´t have an answer back from my man about you music question but, when I do I will pop over straight away.
I posted my competition video today. If you have a spare few minutes between tweaking could you pop over and have a looksy ? I am quite pleased with the finished article. no wizz pops, just me talking about the course, although I did leave in a blooper section a the end and if you listen very carefully I´m afraid there are a few expletives flying about =O)
Speak later,
Paull
Oh and by the way I want some link love baby, So I will do all the necessaries required.
I can hear Barry White playing in the background what the hell is all the about then ???
January 16th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Problem with “The Secret” is that it was created by someone who had insufficient information on a valid topic. All matter gives off energy. Ever heard how a tuning fork works? Strike a tuning fork of the note C and all like vibrations respond. A piano will hum in the note C. Another tuning fork in the note C will also hum along.
Same concept. Our energy attracts like vibrations. It’s not a belief. It’s a scientific fact. And, as Gazz pointed out, the right energy yields the right action. The right actions create the right energy. It becomes cyclic. It’s not about walking around wishing for a Ferrari while doing nothing.
We are a product of our molecules. Literally.
January 16th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
Hi Gary,
Just got caught up with the comments and the little prezzie you sent me.
Yeah, the previous post was only a briefie as I wanted to read all the comments. Just wanted to say that it was great that ‘Q’ was about.
Wow, you really, really are managing to get people fired and motivated by your continuing great posts and commentary. You should be very proud in what you are achieving here Gary in your Temple. Forget about what Q is doing (sorry Q !!) that is secondary but your words are very powerful and the evidence that it is getting through to people is been seen more and more. Look at the great posts even just today from Hilary and Tommy. Great reads. You are having a real impact mate. Keep it up – not that we could stop you now, LOL.
And that prezzie you just sent me – you will not believe the timing of that. Divine intervention or what. The story is exceptionally inspiring and it is just what the Doctor ordered as I’ve had a pretty upsetting last couple of hours of so. Very upsetting. I won’t go into what but it is something that has come to a head and is part of the reason I am fully committed to making a success of everything we are doing with Alex Jeffreys. The timing of your arrival of the little prezzie was amazing. To come back and find it in my Inbox I don’t think was any accident.
Until later.

Subject: Copyright music
———————————
Hi Lon,
I hope you can answer me a question that´s been bothering me for quite a while. The question is about using copyright music within a screencast or for that matter anywhere on my blog. I have in the past bought PLR music tracks, but would like to incorporate some more popular music tracks, where do we stand in the eyes of the law when it comes to this kind of usage, because I would hate to get on the wrong side of Madonna´s lawyers =O)
Best wishes,
Paull Hamilton.
Paul,
That\’s an easy one…DON\’T DO IT!

Paull – oh babbee, babbee, babbee… oh yeah babbee…
Now, my amusement has been quelled somewhat to be sensible. Yeah, all hell does break out here and there will be a BIG outbreak around here pretty soon if things go according to plan. Just waiting for a
or a nod from the Q-ster and something could get slapped up within minutes. Maybe I should send it to my accomplice first. Hmm. What to do.
Sorry Paul I was in reverie there for a moment. That is great that my Action Planner is helping you.
Yep, Nikki dropped a bombshell with the lemur comment. She has got a very “unusual” sense of humour. Lemur tail. Remends me of Pepe Le Peuw.
Yeah, we have haters everywhere. At the risk of upsetting anyone, just have a look at that place that is similar to my Gazz-Man name. What a bunch of dopes. It ain’t ever gonna stop. Oh well.
I’ll get that Barry White turned on for you shortly…

Q – Or driving a Volkswagen and telling everyone it is a Ferrari – LOL!
January 16th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Garry – Sorry to hear if there is a problem going down. I think I have an idea of what it is. Good that the “Power of Choice” arrived for you. Mate, I have lost count of the times that people have told me that.
Email me if I can help with anything.
Thanks for your great empowering comments above. I truly do appreciate them. The good thing here is that I can literally see paople elevating themselves – even the quality of writing is very good here now. People are WANTING to improve and that can only be a GOOD thing. It is amazing what we are capable of when we try. Case in point is that e-book I sent you.
This may sound a bit crazy but sometimes when I write, it is though somebody else is in charge of my words. They just come and in a great rush too. The day I wrote the “Power of Choice” I sat back exhausted and was filled with a lot of emotion. I printed it off, left it for a while and when I came back, read it cover to cover.
I could hardly believe what I had done. On the very first draft it was almost perfect but me being me had to fiddle with it for hours changing a few words here, a few words there. I think I was trying to find out wwhere the flaws were but there really weren’t any.
That book has reduced many people to tears. It does it to me and I wrote it. There is one particular part that kinda makes you take a very deep breath and then you get really emotional but after that feeling drifts away it’s almost like the Rocky music starts inside your head and you just get stronger. Dunno whether it had that effect on you but whenever I feel down I just go to that book, read it and sit back and think “wow, I actually wrote that! Me.” And then I feel as though I can do anything.
Waffle, waffle, waffle.
Anyway hope it helps you mate.

Got back from teaching and I find your comment.
What did I do to deserve that?
I just write as I feel at the time. Yes I go back and proofread as I don’t like to make mistakes (especially in my line of work), but I don’t mess around too much with what I have written.
If it helps people then great (more evidence of the way for me to go I think), but that’s not necessarily what I have set out to do.
In fact as I read down the replies I was blown away by Tommy’s comment and:
‘Most of all believe in yourself, because if you don’t how can anyone else believe in you?’
(sorry I haven’t cracked this getting it into bold thing yet)
That is just so important to anyone’s journey forward in whatever they are doing (and I see a lot of young people who don’t believe in themselves).
Let’s hope that this positive atmosphere we are in will help us all to grow strong and healthy in whatever niche we choose for ourselves.
By the way I will add my Expression of Interest.
They say that if you ask the price you cannot afford it. I will make sure that I can. Thanks for all your effort (and that of Q) in all of this.
Going to spend some time this weekend getting my daughter’s blog going on Wordpress. They say the best way to cement the learning in your own mind is to teach someone else, so I am sure that it will be time well spent.
Right off to do the dinner for the family then the shopping and housework… (how many of you men do that?!)

Hi Hils – One thing about me Hilary is that I will always praise something or somebody outstanding and I thought it was rather outstanding. Hence, my comment. I cant help it.
On the other hand, and I am glad to say it hasn’t happened on any of the blogs I have seen, I’d be quick to take someone aside and tell them, if they were abusive to someone, to knock it off. I can’t stand that sort of thing.
I’m gonna have a tab at the top that says “temple rules” or something and the only rule in there is gonna be this – “Be nice” with a big
Coz that says everything and everyone knows precisely what their obligations are.
I was over at Renee Olsen’s blog earlier today and saw her 1st video. She was so good. And I left a message telling her so. In fact, I told her that with her great screen presence she could read a TV station news with ease. And this is the point. There are a LOT of very talented people in this F500. All most of them need to achieve really great things is
(a) a bit of missing knowledge
(b) encouragement
And that pretty much is what I want to give here.
I will register your EoI above in a blue colour. Thanks Hilary. Never doubt praise if it comes from me because it will be earned. I don’t give it for nothing coz that would be false and the Gazz-man is not a false dude – LOL
January 16th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Gazz man
I know you are not a false dude – that’s why I trust your opinion and gave you my EoI.
I agree that we need to give those who are not so pleasant a good talking-to. I have to do that in the classroom, but I usually find that if I am consistent there will often be another one of the students who will tell the offender off.
We need to make sure the same always happens in this community. I’m glad to see it seems to be fair and supportive so far.

Gary,
Great post as always. There is no way anyone can dispute the 20 differences.
I know you understand what I am going to talk about in this post, I just wonder if others do?
The differences between winners and losers seem simple and stark when you look at them on a page. Changing patterns to become a winner are a lot more difficult. It is easy to say I am going to change; it is a lot harder to make the necessary change and even harder to keep that change going until it becomes a part of you.
It takes 21 days to create a habit. That sounds easy. Most people will say 21 days, that is nothing, I can do that anytime. Unfortunately, when we think that way we are always putting what we want to do or change into a state of “being in the future”. If we continue “future thinking” that is where it will always stay. If we want to make these changes, we must change our thinking from “future thinking” to “now thinking”, or even better, to “I already have it thinking”.
In my own life right now, I tell myself “I have to get back to working out on a daily basis”. This sounds easy in my mind. I even know I only have to do it for 21 days for it to become a habit. I also love working out so it is not even an “Oh I hate that” kind of thing. For me it is a ”where do I find the time thing?”
In my logical brain, I know that is a cop-out. I also understand the fact if it were really important to me, I would find the time to do it. I have taken on “future thinking” in this matter, and the only way I can stop this is to number 1, get off my a$$ and start and number 2 to get off my backside I need to use “now thinking”. I have also placed it in my plan as a goal with a deadline.
I will let you know how this works out ?.
The other part of making these kinds of changes comes from having someone that makes you accountable.
Gary this is where I see you. You are the person that others know they can count on for that push, or nudge, or shove off the cliff, to keep then on track.
There is another name for this: Leader
I teach a series of classes we call LA – Leadership Academy and ALA – Advanced Leadership Academy.
In these classes we cover such things as:
- Leadership vs. Management
- Temperament at Work
- Communication basics
- Dealing with conflict
- Developing organizational skills
- How to transition to leadership
These are just a few of the 16 different classes I teach
I have decided I am going to start posting on these values and these classes. I know many people will benefit by learning Leadership and Management skills. We are running our own businesses, so in essence we have to become leaders. Leaders in our industry, leaders for our employees and even leaders with our Outsourcing partners.
Management is another animal all together. Back in module #1 Alex Jeffreys talked about managing and planning. We must manage our time, manage our outcomes and most of all we manage our business.
I love the saying… “We Lead People, We Manage Things”. Most people get these two confused.
I said earlier Gary you are a leader and you understand that being a winner yourself is great, instilling a winning attitude and making other winners is the key. I wrote a little post over at my place about the post you left for me.. Take a look if you get a chance. I would love your feedback
I will stop my rambling here for now.
Thanks again for everything you do for me and for others

Hi Gary,
Love your list! It hits you right between the eyes. I’d say my biggest downfalls are #3 and #6. I can get distracted or procrastinate and both are really self sabotaging.
When I was in the corporate world, I had others relying on me and always kept my focus. Now that it’s just me, why do I feel I have the luxury of distraction or procrastination? I still want big things!!
So thanks for the smack upside the head!
Debbie

@ Thom – OUTSTANDING post! Understood in FULL.
You are most welcome to post any and all of that material here. It will also mark you as the person I know you already are. I detected it immediately. My radar is very attuned to these matters. I could even tell just from your gravatar before I investigated matters further because you have that “look.” LOL! I will leave it at that. You know what I mean as it is a reciprocating energy between like minds.
Jeez, there will be some high-voltage on this site, especially when Q is in the house too. That will take it to overload – LOL! (PS: Will make sure that reciprocation at your site happens too. Just get yourself positioned outside this site first. Gather your people. The towers will go up one at a time but they will go up. And then they will cross-link).
Thom, just make the offerings “bite” sized. I don’t know whether too many could take the whole lot at this early stage, especially with what I have been laying down here and I am only just starting to get to cruise speed.
Glad you have made this move. I will be putting you on my GOLD list now. I was just waiting for you to position yourself. I had every intention anyway but was waiting for you to sieze the initiative.
Thanks mate.

Debbie – Hello my dear. I was smiling at your choices. They were the same ones that Nikki made. Hmm. Does that tell me anything? LOL!
Actually, we ALL do those things at times.
I see also that you can strongly identify with my third paragraph in the opening to this post. Being your own boss can be very tough. Who makes you accountable?
Thanks for your comments here.

Hey Gary Man,
Love your “New Look”! Congrats!
I agree with your “20″! Although I think not taking action may be a prime difference.
Sorry I been away from Gary Land so long but with my sisters breast cancer and dad falling on my mom and breaking her back it’s been a bit trying around my world. No excuse just the facts mam!
I’ll be back soon to see those updates.

Q
Q Who?
Q me in!
He,he,he (actually make that more like a snicker with a little raspy sound)
Alright, I might have to wait just like the rest, but I know you make me feel good and motivated. I’m not even in a down state and there you are lifting me higher. Very unusual to have a total stranger spreading kindness.
And I see the PROOF that it is not just me. There’s Hilary and Niki and Garry and many more. I see you making the rounds. You even got me twice.
The post is outstanding and I stumbled into the tips section. Just what I needed. I appreciate the extra effort at my blog regarding my domain and identity issue.

VIEW ANYBODY’S KEYWORDS for —–FREE——
I just had to tell you about a brand new, FREE KEYWORD RESEARCH TOOL that Brad Callen just released.
It allows you to browse Google and view the Adwords keywords of ANY Adwords advertiser! Basically, it’s a small file that gets installed into your web browser (i.e. Firefox).
When you do a Google search, the software automatically places a “view keywords” button below every single Adwords advertiser.
Click the “view keywords” button and really neat popup window appears that not only shows you the keywords that any Adwords advertiser is bidding on, but it also shows you a TON of other information, like how much they’re paying per click and so on.
It’s awesome.
Anyway, here is the link where you can download the software, and it doesn’t cost anything.
=> http://pinurl.com/jdu
Hope you’re having a great week and I’ll talk to you soon.
Michael
P.S. Here’s the link where you can get the FREE Adwords keyword tool again:

Hi, some quick replies…
@ Bobby – Gee, mate. You are going through a tough patch. Sorry to hear that. I kinda wondered where you were.
Yep ACTION is where the rubber meets the road. That is why I created that ACTION Planner for everybody. Hope things get much better real soon Bobby. If I can find your email addy I will send you a little somethin’, somethin’.
@ Renee – It’s always a pleasure for me to help somebody else. You know what happens to me then? I get stronger. It’s true.
Yeah, Nikki’s lemur tail (tale) was riotously funny. The thing is I could “see” it in my mind’s eye. (or eyes – LOL). She comes out with some very funny quips at times, usually heavily laced with innuendo. The funny thing is this – when somebody says something that she can so obviously turn into something massively rude all she says is, “Sitting on hands now!” And, to me, THAT is even funnier. I can picture her counting to 10 until the urge kinda backs off a bit – if ever! But she does show good restraint at times and I am just sitting here LMHO at it.
Your Q-Knock-knock joke was also very good. I liked it. But I think you may just have to join the Q. In fact, I know with absolute certainty that when Q makes a full appearance there will be a line a mile long. I can guarantee it. This is one VERY special person and I am so pleased to have such a knowledgeable and powerful friend here with me.
I do like wit and a bit of sarcastic stuff from time to time. You should have seen what I said to this guy on twitter the other night. I actually hit the firing button and sent it before I really thought too much about it. Anyway, I spotted this guy called S Webber and in a moment of madness I had sent him a tweet asking, “Are you related to Aweber?” So, I reckon I head up his top 10 DH list now.
Regarding hats – don’t like them much. But I do have a bow and it does have many strings – LOL!
Thanks for coming over Renee – and FOLKS! – if you haven’t seen Renee’s video then you are missing out. Her fisrt attempt is so good I thought I was watching a professional newsreader. Check it out and leave a comment to tell Renee if you agree with me.
Gary
PS: Renee – so you are a 3 & 6′er above too, huh? Those two seem to be pretty prevalent.
January 17th, 2009 at 8:39 am
Hi Michael – My apologies. Since you were posting here for the first time your comment got held up in moderation.
So, you don’t like the close up. Heh… I actually know a few people who would definitely prefer to see me from a distance than up close – LOL. And I know some who would say the reverse too. I guess we are all different, but I’d like to know your reason why. Is it too confronting, too much? Tell me. Maybe I’ll put some sunnies on – LOL!
That tool looks cool BTW.

Hi Gary,
Thanks a lot for the visits this morning.and obviously the great feedback.
I’ve just got back home after a mornings filming.
I’m in the middle of doing a few infomercials for various Clickbank products, I have to be honest with you though, Ken Hell made his presence felt on more than one occasion during the mornings proceedings!
Back out again after lunch for the second round of filming, but Ken is staying at home firmly under lock and key.
All the best,

Awesome post Gary,
You nail it well. It’s great to have it all in a list as a good reminder to look at, in those moments of, well. . when one is off the path! A nice tool to use to check ones-self!
Scanning the list, an alert mind will easily see the one they are stuck wallowing in.
I rarely see anyone talk about your #17 – new years or a single repeated year. it’s about continuous growth or, not. Many got in the wrong line early in life, the one where the blinders were getting handed out!
But non in this group I would suspect.

Hi Gazz Man
Just popping back to let you know that we have set up my daughter’s Wordpress blog and I have written a new post to that effect. I need to up the work rate now – you’ll see why when you read it!
Anyway she has seen what you have written here and I want her to be a winner, so we can continue this journey together.
I loved Renee’s video especially the stop frame animation. I had originally thought about doing something like that but hadn’t got ‘a round tuit’ (how often do we need one of those?!)
I also liked Paull’s video and now Ian and Becky have got their video online too. I’ve left comments for them all because they are all great to watch and they are one step ahead of me, though I hope to be up and running with my video very soon.
I can’t believe the talent there is here in the F500.
So many different ideas and ways of doing things and I believe that people are shining here because Alex Jeffreys has given us a great fat kick up the backside and pushed us out of our comfort zones.
Those people who rise to the challenge are surely winners already, no matter the destination of this journey.
Have a good rest of the weekend.
Hils

Hi Gary
First let me say your new theme and layout is fantastic.
I like your 20 points and will print and refer to them often. I think I will even post them on the wall beside my monitor.
Up until last night I was guilty of point 6. Therefore I am a loser, probably in more ways than I can imagine. I am sure I have left a bunch of money on the table that I could have picked up.
Should have started making videos months ago. However I have been putting it off because it is out of my comfort zone.
Well I finally started last night.
You know what? It is not so bad. In fact it is kind of fun.
Watch out world my video empire has begun.

Hi Gary,
Sorry to have been flying under the radar recently. I am actually on two coaching programs at the same time and the other one needs attention. I have to make 40 websites in 60 days, this weekend I’ve created four and learned how to SEO optimize them in around two hours from start to the first postings.
Unfortunately that’s removed me from this leg of Alex’s program although, as you know, I’ve already an Alex Jeffreys video on YouTube, and who knows I may well create a second one if I come up with a novel idea.
Most of my planning now is on circumventing this leg of the AJ process and instead come up with a mega super unique high value give-away product to place alongside any affiliate launch from Alex, or others.
Be sure however, I’ll always find time to pass this way from time to time.

Evening Gary (morning in the UK for me),
I’m definitely spending a lot of time on point 14 at the moment
” Winners seek information and embrace new knowledge.”
I’m trying to get to the bottom of this SEO ‘issue’ which is crucial for us all to get to grips with and drive traffic to our individual sites. My latest post does a detailed analysis of exactly what I see we all need to get to grips with it. I’m not going to stop until I’ve got ALL of the answers, not just some. That’s not good enough, so I guess I’m also following your point 1 as well ” Winners have dogged determination”
Oh, btw, Gary forgot to mention the other day about your Blog changes. You don’t have Avatars anymore
I rather miss my Ninja Eye !!
Actually, I do find that Avatars serve a purpose. When you come back to visit a site which is very active, like yours, you can quickly scan down the comments to find the last place you left a comment on the thread and so you know you can pick up the discussion from there. It just makes a bit easier to locate where you were last up to.
Is there a technical reason why Q has decided not to implement them or is it purely a personal choice?

Holy Babylon,
I take one night off and E-gad! Look at what has happened! I guess this post has hit a few nerves huh?
Well, I did my piece for the Profit Pulling Project Newsletter #3 that the venerable Garry Parkes has due out this week and all I can say is WATCH OUT!
You may have to take a bex and have a little lie down after you read it coz this is really gonna rattle some cages, in a nice sort of way. I beat everyone up a bit last time so I feel that I need to be REAL nice this time.
Go and hammer Parkesy to get this out folks! Go over to his site and plead, beg, grovel, do whatever just get him to release it coz my article will take up about 6 pages anyway and he will NOT be stuck for content.

OK, I will have to be brief with everyone. I hope you understand…
@ Paull – yes ‘Ken Hell is a friend of mine. I yell his name out often – especially when I do something dumb, which is pretty often – LOL! Loved the blooper section on your video.
@ John – Welcome! You have probably never seen #17 because it is an original thought of mine and I have never discussed it before. But when you think about it, how true is it?
@ Hils – Great that your daughter’s blog is up. Wow! If Lizzie gets that list into her head and works with it she will be unstoppable in a few years. Great stuff Hils – teach the kids young and give them the benefit of our experience. I saw a round “tuit” about 30 years ago and haven’t seen one since. It was a piece of cardboard about the size of an old EP or single vinyl record. It was green in colour, I remember that and it had the word tuit printed around and around in circles. It was so funny. I might just create one for fun and get it up on my site here. LOL!
Hi Lizzie! Don’t read any of the roodey-poo stuff here. (Your mum tells me to say it – LOL!)
Now for the next group…
Regards to you all. I do love reading these comments from you.
Gary

OK. Time for the next group. Like I said i just gotta be brief…
@ Tommy –
In my book you are a FULL member Tommy. That video of yours was so funny. HEY EVERYBODY! get over to Tommy’s site and watch his very “outrageous” video – I laughed all the way through it – Cecil Bumsqueak! That was funny. Folks it was so good I left a humungous comment that took up the whole fold of the screen. Do yourself a favour and go and watch Tommy’s video. You will p155 your pants! LOL!
@ Thomas – Now you know you are NOT a loser. You just won bloody Foxy’s comp didn’t you? What more do you want? LOL! Glad you like the new site and glad you can make use of the 20 points. Thanks for making a visit Thomas.
@ Stephen – 40 websites in 60 days is obscene. Sorry mate, I just don’t get it. Who is advising this? The guy selling the bloody things? Have to say that the “mega super unique high value give-away product” you talk about sounds pretty wonderful though. I wanna see that.
@ Garry – First of all Garry, we disabled the (gr)avatars coz we got SICK OF BEING NINJA EYE SPIED ON! LOL! No doubt Q is up to something here – always tinkering and tweaking is the good ship Q. I don’t undersatnd much of it but – hey! Look at this place! I ain’t complaining. Also, Garry, I LOVED your SEO analysis over at your site and I slathered it with the praise that it so richly deserved. You showed a few cards there mate. That was OO’sey of you. I wanted to send the Bismarck out but Q said no. Oh well, I’m just polishing the 18″ guns so that when they fire they will be in good working order. LOL (God I can talk some sh*t, cant I?)
Thanks for all your comments you folks. This place is SO much richer for all of you coming here and saying the most intelligent things. Well done!

Hi all,
Yes, I know, it’s been quiet and civilised here for the past couple of days. I’m back now, but don’t worry – as per Gary’s statement above:
…I’m not going to start with my usual brand of nonsense. There are of course all sorts of things I could say given the ammunition above, but for now I shall show a certain level of restraint.
Going to catch up on all the other comments that have been left now, that’ll keep me quiet for a while!
Garry (Parkes) has left a huge post over on his blog about issues he’s having with SEO etc, so if any of you reading this have any knowledge about it, pop over and see what he’s got to say.

Ooh! Now it’s Nikki,
Hello darling, how are you?
Sitting on hands a little bit there, were we? Heh… heh… yes there was ammunition and unexploded ordnance left all over the place, my dear. And I am so impressed that you didn’t detonate any of it. Yet, that is. Showing EXCELLENT restraint this evening-morning-afternoon-night-whatever. Sometimes it is just so much better to hold oneself back a little, if you get my drift.
Yeah, Parkesy is a man possessed (think Rosemary’s baby here folks) at the moment. He is on a mission from God, or something. He’s got absolutely cloved hooves about this darn SEO stuff. Well I guess that ain’t God huh? Just the opposite in fact. Suffice to say this… he is going off over it!
Can everyone see how I have totally annoyed the suitcase out of all my family and friends and I really NEED you guys to dump this stuff on. Huh? Please just laugh politely, if you wish and try not to encourage me too much.
Anyway Nix, I mean Nikki – oh darn! Miss Stephens, I know some very impressive things that you have been doing relating to your blogsite and I will certainly be over to the Purply Haze Palace this evening before I retire to partake in your conviviality.
So darls, put on the tea and let’s have some for you and me and the Tillerman (um… Cat Stevens or Usuf Oogerbooger or whatever he calls himself these days – you know… Peace Train, Father and Son, Morning Glory has Broken… hmm… I may have gotten that last one a bit skew-whiff).
Anything but Earl bloody Grey dishwashing water thanks…

Restraint and decorum are not virtues that come naturally to me. However, I feel it is something I may need to work on, and is related to my latest blog post.
Off to finalise my article for Garry’s PPP newsletter now.

@ Nix – Good for you my sweet… Glad you just like plain tea. Me too. Black – NO sugar – and a dash of speed. Oh God, you should see how waiters and waitresses look at me when I say that last bit. I reckon they probably do a bit of a gooz in it before they bring it out. Gee, hope not.
See you at the Purpleodeon. Oh, and do I have some hot stuff for you hons – I will email it ASAP! I hope you like it.
@ Desiree – My strong advice is to get active. Pound the blogs and get NOTICED. That is how everyone else did it. I don’t know what time committments or constraints you have but I would suggest a MINIMUM of 5 comments per day and even better 10. I remember my record day for hammering the daylights out of blogs was 78! YEAH – 78!
I usually try for at least 10 per day but it depends on what else I have going on. I want to do this so I am gonna keep pushing. Keep coming back Desiree, as you say. Watch how I do things and then just start experimenting until you find your groove.
@ Garry – Ah Diablo himself! Should I speak Latin? Try this. De gus ti bus non est dis pu tan dum! First person to unravel that lot gets a PRIZE from the Gazz-Man!
Mate you can say bugger here if ya want. I’m very broad minded and the folks who come here don’t seem to mind a bit of biffo-lingo so long as it’s funny – which yours is. Actually, it raised a VERY funny image in my mind – and like Alex Jeffreys says – we should have fun. That is why I am often a bit nutty in my replies, especially late at night or early morning as it is here at the moment (12.29am in Perth, Western Australia).
I figure that my opening salvos are serious enough as are the Motivational Moments I write for you in your newsletter. And mate! What about my latest RANT – was I going off, or what? And the girls are gonna LOVE it. Watch out for it girls! Pester Parkesy to publish it. He wants to hold off but I don’t! I want youse all (good English) to HAVE it ASAP! Pester him. Go over there and demand it.
Galloping over… cute, Parkesy, cute! Just don’t make a goat of yourself when you are over there. LOL!

Indeed, there is no accounting for taste….

Gaz-Man
I do have milk in my tea, but no sugar – and none of that nonsense about ‘oh, is that because you’re sweet enough already’. Urgh. Anyone that knows me will be aware that of the many ways to describe me, ’sweet’ isn’t one of them.
Looking forward to the hot stuff – as the song goes:
Ok, now I have that in my head, singing away quite happily. Need to go eat my lunch (yes, at 3.50pm!).
See you in the Lair of Temptation…

Oh Nix!
You clever little ranunculus. Did thou art Google that? Now I must give thee a PRIZE. What would thine Raven-haired, ruby-lipped, purple-obsessed miasmic-temptress like from thy Gazz-Man’s bag of tricks. Thy selection is vast. Name thine prize and it shall be given unto thee!
You may email me to see what is on offer. Perhaps an e-book, an e-kiss? That would certainly be cheap. In fact, here is one – X. But, alas, the Gazz-Man jests with thee. Tho’ a prize is a prize indeed. So name thy bounty.

OK,
Try these lyrics, which I feel are most appropriate for where I think we are heading (again)…
I gotta say I am just about ready for some ZZ Top myself. It is very late here – AGAIN!
Actually, just listening to a little bit of the old Electric Light Orchestra as I work Nix. That would be ELO. Unlike a London Bobby who would mutter “‘elllo, ‘ello, ‘ello!” The particular track is “Turn to Stone.”
You like? Yes? I like!

If we’re going for lyrics then I’m going for a song from Five (yes, I know, terribly cheesy boyband thing). But you’ll see why…
Not exactly Shakespeare, but it gets the point across!
Still thinking about my present by the way, and indeed I may be calling on your expertise for something…
I like ZZ Top incidentally, recognised the lyrics as soon as I read them. I like their song ‘Rough Boy’ – unusually slow and for them, but powerful all the same.
Oh dear, now you’ve got me started on a lyric thing…

Hey Nix,
There is a West Australian band over here that has released a song that I just CANNOT get out of my head – it’s bloody haunting me – I tell you. I really like it too. The band is called Gyroscope (catchy huh?). I think the song is just called “Australia.”
I wonder if you get it over there.
Gary
PS: Just googleized it. Here is the link: http://www.gyroscope.com.au/ Now, when you get there the song is the second one down – just called “Australia.” It is a beautiful song. Have a listen and tell me what you think. This is a local band here in Perth. Love it!

I was on Wikipedia looking at it
Will have a listen once the others in the office have gone…they’re preparing for a conference tomorrow so it’s busy here despite being quiet – they won’t appreciate me playing them music at the moment. See, I can be considerate occasionally!

This is one HOT band right from my home city. I really like their music. That song “Australia” is highly addictive.
Bugger it! I’m gonna buy their album tomorrow. I bought Kings of Leon the other day so I’m gonna support my local talent here. Yeah! I’m listening to “Australia” on the head phones YET again!
January 19th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
I did like their song ‘Sex On Fire’ (and no, there is no pun whatsoever intended in that!).
I generally go for stuff I can sing and dance around to, that always makes me happy…

Gazz-Man turns to Nix and says,
“Nix.. lay where you’re layin and don’t make a sound coz all the peeps are watchin. All this commotion has people talkin’. You-oo. You one bad gal!”
Customised for blogland. LOL

Oh. I’m not very good at staying quiet. I can be quite…enthusiastic…when appropriately motivated…
January 19th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
Well darls you have come to the right place coz I AM the motivator.
January 19th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
Apparently so! But I think you’d have to start slowly and gently with me, as I haven’t had that level of motivation for a while…

Hmm
Looks like you could do with a chaperone around here.
I know it’s a bit late but I’ve been playing Cluedo with Lizzie. I wonder if there is a lesson to be learnt from that?!
Was it Miss Scarlet in the Ballroom with the whip oops I mean rope?

@ Nix – You already know what a patient man I CAN be.
@ Hils – This often tends to happen here. Make sure Lizzie doesn’t see it – LOL!

“Maybe, without naming names, you might work with someone who displays a characteristic listed above.”
I don’t need to talk about anyone else that I work with who might have those characteristics…I can tell you that the person I work with who needs to conquer that list is myself.
