Internet Marketing – A New Year Begins & NOW Is YOUR Time to ‘Fess Up!

New Year Resolutions – ever made any? I have.
Is it any wonder that all these marvellous ideas that run through our minds on the last day of any given year NEVER, or hardly ever, come to fruition? Oh, they sound so good. Next year I’m gonna be a better person. Next year I’m gonna go for all my goals. Next year will see a new me. Next. Next. Next. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah… (sounds like an old Beatles’ song).
Well guess what folks? Most people won’t even last the FIRST week. 90 to 95% of all people who even BOTHER to make a New Year Resolution will succumb to weakness or inactivity and will blow their brainwave idea before week’s end. Of the rest, most of them will collapse in a screaming heap in the following week. The longer it goes the harder it will get – UNLESS you do three things:
1 – Make a personal pledge. Write it down, sign it and read it every morning and the last thing you do before you hit the sack at night. That will “infect” your mind in a most positive way.
2 – Be as descriptive as you possibly can and make sure you describe how you will feel as though you are already in possession of the thing or things that you desire RIGHT NOW! (Bob Proctor of “You Were Born Rich” fame taught me that!)
3 – Make yourself acountable by telling somebody that you trust and who believes in you. Keeping it a secret to yourself is too pathetic to be useful. Don’t even bother.
So, on the subject of number three above, do you want to make yourself accountable here?
Let me tell you something folks and you can think whatever you want about this, I really don’t care. On December 31, 2002 I decided to get real with something I am very passionate about and just want to get better and better at. Today on December 31, 2008 – 6 years on – I have NOT ONCE broken that committment. That will be 2,190 consecutive days. I do this thing EVERY day and I enter it into a very large ruled up exercise book. (Incidentally, do you have my ACTION Planner?)
I can hear some people saying, “Oh you’re a real hero Gary!” Nope. I am just like everyone else but I made a COMMITTMENT to myself and I got REAL! NO MORE BLOODY EXCUSES. And now my ability in that thing is extra-ordinary. Call me bombastic, self-serving, self aggrandizing, trumpet blowing. Call me what you want. I am trying to TEACH you something here. Take it or leave it. It’s YOUR life.
Six years on, I am so far ahead of anywhere I could have ever dreamed of. And every day I get just a tiny bit better. Why do I tell you this? Because if I can do it, so can YOU. I am nobody special. Well, maybe I am now. But I wasn’t before. I just built myself from the ground up. Brick by brick by brick…
Am I proud of what I have done? You better be sure of that. Of course I am. And NO I am not gonna disclose what it is. That is unimportant to you. What IS important is YOU and what YOU want to do. Will YOU commit to yourself? I don’t give fig WHAT it is. All that is important is that it is IMPORTANT to you. Are you passionate enough? Do you have the hunger? Do you have the need? (Hmm… shades of Alice Cooper there).
William James, a revolutionary American psychologist, said words to the effect, “most people use only 10% of their brain.” Well, how much are YOU using? Are you serious? Have you had enough? Do you want to waste even one more year? Coz I’ll tell you this… TIME will wait for NOBODY. How quickly did last year go? How quickly did the last five years go? How quickly is the FORTHCOMING year gonna go?
Come here and tell everyone – if you are prepared to commit to the 1,2,3 above. Well? Are you? You don’t have to say EXACTLY what it is – broad terms will do but I want to know if you will take ACTION!
Have you made a personal pledge? Have you described it in detail? Will you read it every morning and evening? Have you told a confidante?
Do you want to make a comment here? No scaredy-cats here please! Pussy cats will never be roaring tigers. And eagles don’t flock. Neither do sharks. Pigeons and sardines flock.
You can always waste another year if that is YOUR CHOICE! And please, if you are a tiger in the making, make it brief. We don’t want a day by day account. Three or four sentences is enough (Fancy me saying that! LOL!)
Over to YOU! Go for it! Let’s see who’s got what it takes. Anyone? Do I hear any roars?

Ok, so your very last sentence just meant I had to comment – here I am, hear me roar!!!
1. Yes, I will be making a personal pledge. I keep a personal diary most days, so once I have worded a pledge I am happy with it’s going onto the side of my wardrobe (the reason being it’s the last thing I see at night and the first thing I see in the morning). Then I will say it out loud to myself once in the morning and once in the evening, and visualise feeling the success that I am dreaming of.
2. In The Secret, they suggest making a gratitude list, and then also including the things you want. Start with a blank sheet of paper, with the title “I am so happy and grateful now that I…” then bullet point underneath things you currently have & are grateful for, along with things you WILL have and are grateful for (e.g. I am so happy and grateful that I run an extremely successful internet marketing business). Then read this list & *feel* this list. Otherwise it all ends up on ‘Someday Island’ as I referred to in my very long comment on Gaz-Man’s previous post.
3. So…who wants to be my accountability partner??

I’m in the process of visiting all the student blogs and absorbing in the know-how of what others are doing, what I need to do and more importantly what I can give in return to the students.
I’m also working on a book as I mentioned on my blog a while back. The reality is it’s been on a standstill for a bit. Cause I’m playing catchup. But I’m sure when I do have a final product I’ll amaze myself more than anyone else. And if I do that successfully I’ll know that it will help others like me.

Excellent post (as always) I really have found that that is the difference between action and no action – accountability!
I have in fact this week just though that I will have a Monday Post (outlining whatI want to achieve) and then the next week going on to discuss what I did and didn’t do and what I have planned for the week ahead that way I would be accountable to my readers etc.
I think having an accountability partner, someone in the business, is a great idea!

This is the year I’m actually going to take what I have learnt over the years and apply it CONSISTENTLY!
I have my pledge, it’s on the wall by my desk and is the first thing I read in the morning and last thing at night. Also have other written statements (our friend Shad Helmstetter) I will action on a daily basis, not just the usual few weeks.
Part of my New Years resolutions is to remain focused, visualise my goals and most importantly achieve them.
As for an accountable partner, well I always have you Gary LOL

First I would like to thank you for the comment that you left on my blog today. It had great value to me.
Next I will make this public commitment to you and the 498 other Alex Jeffreys students.
By the end of 2009 I will be making $20,000 per month in Internet Marketing. I know this because I have made a year long plan. I have broken that into 3 90 day plans, I have broken those into 12 monthly plans. I have broken those into 52 weekly plans. Which I break into 5 daily plans on a weekly basis. I know exactly what I have to do tomorrow today.
I concentrate on my goal every day. When something negative gets in my road I ask myself “what do I want” and the answers open up to me.
It is not hard to make this pledge, as I have already seen it happen in my mind and I have a clear path to my goal.

You go to Design -> Widgets. Under Current Widgets, be sure to pick the Right Sidebar from the drop down menu. If you haven’t already add a text widget from the Available Widgets list. Click the edit link and insert your text and click change. Now comes the important part. You need to click the Save Changes button too under all the widgets or it will not save.

Hi Gary!
Some great resolutions.. It’s a good to get committed to the basics. If we haven’t got that figured out it doesn’t matter how your plan for bringing in traffic will be or how many followers you want to get on Twitter next year.
I need to get back to the basics again too and get more committed.
I will also try something new this year. Don’t ever wonder, what did I do last year on this exact day? No I will not write a journal, but I will take one picture everyday and post a photo blog. That way I can go back next year and see what happened
I think that will be a fun project.

Hi Gary,
I wonder if you can help me. I have made a video for Garry´s newsletter, but am having a few problems getting the final product to look better than it does at the moment.
On my computer it´s really clean but after uploading it to Viddler it looks like total crap !! Really pixelated.
I obviously don´t want it going out looking anything other than perfect, as I don´t want it as a reflection on the newsletter.
I have made an exe file as an attachment to an email I want to send to Garry, but I don´t know his email address.
Off the top of your head do you know it ?

Hi Gazz-Man,
One part of my 2009 roar will be demonstrated as you continue to see me going from strength to strength within this community. The goals are set, and every day my “To Do” list becomes my “Did” list, working up to the end of year goal. That is the internet marketing part.
Commitment, persistence, tenacity and “do it”, tempered with some frustration and lots of laughter are all major parts of my roar. Hanging on to all of these will keep me in the F500 frame.

Great post. I love it. As a Corporate Trainer on of the classes I teach is on Goal Setting. Everything you placed in you post is what we work on in class.
I am a great proponent of goal setting and use it all of the time. When we teach the class we talk about your goals being S.M.A.R.T.
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Attainable
R – Relevant
T – Timely
One of the most important parts of goal setting for me is the “T”imely, I tell my classes all of the time “A goal with out a deadline is a Dream” Dreams are good but very hard to accomplish.
When I look at your post it is a great inspiration to me. We will never get better if we don’t ever try. If we don’t set that goal and continue to strive for it.
To throw out one more Acronym… C.A.N.I.
C – Constant
A – and
N – Never ending
I – Improvement
We use all of this in our Martial Arts Teachings. Like you said in your post, “Get a little bit better every day” using CANI is how I remember to work everyday towards what I want out of life.
There is much more I could say, although I do not wnat to bore your readers. Somtime we should talk Vision Boards and such

I have to say I loved your article, and it was all very true. We have to make goals, and stick to them like super glue! Without goals we are just basically “blown around by the wind.” One day we do one thing, and the next something else.
I have a personal goal for 2009. It is by the end of the year I will be making $20,000 a month, have 10,000 on my mailing list, and have quit my regular job and market full time.
I also liked what you said you learned from Bob Proctor. I love Bob Proctor! One of my goals is to take the class he is offering. Right now it costs a bit more money than I am able to pay, though I really feel it is worth it. I am taking his 6 Minute a Day thingy tho, and I try to apply it everyday. I am determined to improve my self in every way! Physically, mentally, emotionally, and finincally.

Well it seems appropriate that I am making my last comment of 2008 on your site.
In fact, I’m running the risk of a ‘clip around the ear’ as my wife is waiting patiently for me, tapping her foot so I’m pushing my luck a bit here!
I’ve put up my goals on my site earlier on as part of my last post for 2008. Not time to repeat them here as I may end up with concussion, LOL!!
Want to just say sincere thanks to all the students who have helped me come this far over the last 5 weeks or so. But most of all a big thanks to you Gary. You have helped me in so many way – and not just the contribution to the Profit Pulling Project Newsletter. Too many ways to mention here, and I know you’re a modest fellow so wouldn’t want to embarrass you:-) Anyone looking at how Alex preaches to us to give rather than receive need look no further than Gary for the best example. He has been a great source of help to me, freely giving his time and I thank him for it dearly. Here is to a great 2009 mate. I will have a drink to you tonight.

Yes I have made a few resolutions in the past as well. But they have never had anything to do with business. And since New Years Resolutions for me have a bad track record of success I think I will pass!!
I like the your pledge idea much better and since I have already done this when I started this coaching program, I suppose this is a perfect time to refocus and maintain my plan.
Since I made my goals in the beginning of this coaching program I am now nowhere I thought I would be. I am actually in a much better place with more opportunities than I ever imagined. I don’t know if this is what Alex Jeffreys had planned but here we are. Even if the coaching ends up not being what I hoped am way ahead with the contact I have made.
I have had an opportunity to be a part of group of people with some of the same Ideas and goals as me. How often does that happen?
I have a list of very specific goals that in order to meet them I will need to do specific activities each day. I have shared these activities with some of my coworkers and let me tell you they are not the type of people to let it slide. I get asked every single day if I did this or did you finish that. I may regret doing that but it is to late now. But I know if I get stuck where to go. I am coming straight over here.
I have become a follower of many of you in this program and you help me daily without even knowing it. Thanks!

Hi Gazz- Man
Wishing you and all AJ students an exciting and proseperous 2009.
I’ve just watched the fireworks over London and my commitment for this year is to set off a few fireworks of my own. They’ll both for me (beneath me to get and keep me working towards my goals) and for others to see, enjoy and hopefully to take part in.
My main areas will be:
1) To plan and follow my plan (yes I remember the Ps acronym being drummed into me when I was doing my military basic training)
2) To concentrate on the task in hand and to work at each one until finished – not flit around from one job to another – multi-tasking doesn’t always work, though as a mum I do have to do plenty of that.
3) Be positive as much of the time as possible (I won’t say always because I’m human too!)
4) To enjoy my family and spend good quality time with them – follows on from 2.
5) To enjoy the journey – boy have I learnt a lot already! I’m having fun meeting so many great, helpful people. Who knows where we will all be and what we will have experienced by this tiime next year?
Life’s too short to be stressed and miserable and the news, politicians, financial situation etc could really drag us down but we have the opportunity here to do something about it in our lives.
Be positive and laugh! It’s good for us!

Garry Parkes – the sentiments are mutual mate.
I have a plaque on my office wall about the name Gary – sorry Gazza but it is the ONE “R” variety. However, I am sure it applies to you equally as well. It says:
“spearman”
and is of Anglo-Saxon origin.
Gary is giving and devoted

Schmitty! – a very focussed and powerfully determined pledge there my friend. Yes, there are some wonderful people in the F500 group and you are one of them.
I was wondering some time ago why you were not more active on the blogs coz you have such detailed techie knowledge of so many things. Then you made one post over at Parkesy’s last week and I thought BANG! … this guy is moving up to take his rightful place in all this. Here comes not “ANOTHER” David Smith but “THE” David Smith.
To know that I am helping people in a remote manner using only the power of my words is a great feeling for me. That is why I am here. Thank you sincerely for telling me.

Hi Bobby First up… “Baileys and WHAT?” The Gazz-Man would PUKE on that – LOL! I like FIRE-water. But thanks for the sentiment.
Bobby, I think I see a common theme running through a lot of comments on many blogs… there is definitely a lot of PASSION around a lot of the SERIOUS students. I think the thing that has been holding them back is the shotgun approach that so many of us have had in the past – a little dabble here, a little dabble there and then – “oh, what’s that?” – something ELSE to dabble in.
We all need to FOCUS. That is the only thing that will hold the big-hitters in this F500 back – too much dabbling and too much shot-gunning. And I can certainly see some home-run KINGS and QUEENS in this pack. That is for sure. All they need to do, me included, is to narrow the focus. And then you will see the ACES start to appear. Bang. Bang. Bang.
I can see your passion. Turn it into an obsession but not at the expense of family. I say that for everyone.

Valz from the friendly Planet Valz. Howdy! At least you SAW fireworks. I was causing them – over at Parkesy‘s. Gee did I have him in a flap yesterday trying to out-gun me. He threw everything at me and I was chucking stuff back so fast that we both got totally carried away. It was SO funny… for both of us. Two Gazzas going at it hammer and tong. A couple of heavy-weights standing toe to toe slugging it out and the crowd roaring for more. More about that soon…

Seriously, Hillary, all of what you said above sounds like it came out of my own brain. I was reading it and saying to myself… self I was saying… “u-huh, yep, u-huh, I agree, true, yep.” Then I thought… WHOA! Has Hils done a cut and paste and a PLR thingy here with a previous Gazz-Man comment. Watch out Hillary! When you start writing like that you will very quickly start to border on RANTISM – a Gazz-Man trait that he tries so hard to keep under control.

Hi folks,
Well so many of you have seen my comments all over the place, the occasional RANT, a few sermons here and there and, at times, some outright LUNACY. Even I have to admit that. So I am gonna ‘fess up myself. I put this up at Gary Parkes blog this morning just so everyone will know that there truly is a METHOD behind what I am doing. Here it is:
So there. I’m not really an out-of-control head-case though, much of the time, it may seem that way. In fact, my entire blog is a giant learning centre and testing zone for a LOT more to come. You really have no idea of some of the things that I have lined up for you all.
Some of you have already commented on the “information” side of things here. I try to add extra bits into my personal answers to the various visitors so that EVERYONE can take something away. So, when I answer or comment back there is usually a lot more than what is asked – especially if something comes at me while I am writing (which is most of the time). That is why my comments are usually so verbose.
I know that this place won’t be for everybody. In fact, some people will hate this blog. They will see me as a self-opinionated, know-all, know-nothing, show-off di*khe*d. That’s OK. Those folks can always go somewhere else. I just have things on offer here and each person can take what they want and reject the rest. I’m not hand-cuffing anyone to this place. But I will try to make it interesting for you so you will want to come back.
Here you will learn about the art of writing, motivation, self esteem, cheer-leading (yep but not the fancy girls in leotards stuff – I’ll leave that to Nix LOL!), dedication, committment and a few other things that I have been concealing.
Over the coming months new layers will be progressively peeled back here so as not to overwhelm you with too much all at once. Plus, I know that everyone is completely overloaded with things to do and the frenetic activity demanded by all that. I certainly don’t want to add to that load.
I too am overwhelmed by activity and the lack of hours in the day to get things done. Often, I just don’t want to sleep. But then I lose effectiveness and know I must – even if it is only for 4 or 5 hours. To me, sleeping is such a waste of time. I have always thought that but it is necessary.
I have also been deliberately holding back some of my more “unusual” words coz (that isn’t one) I don’t want people running to the dictionary every ten minutes. But you can expect things to fire up soon on that front too. See my reply to Hilary above (and don’t forget to have a look at the MOTIVATIONAL MOMENT in the Profit Pulling Project Newsletter #2).
I read a lot so I am exposed to a huge variety of other people’s thoughts. Often those thoughts are regurgitated when I write and even I sit back and think… “Jeez, where did that come from?” But it is all from the hundreds of books that I read. I encourage you all to read GOOD books. There were a lot of books and authors covered on a previous thread and I will be having more to say about that as I bring this material on.
What does amaze me though is that I have hidden so many little “easter-eggs” everywhere and so few people have found them. Or if they have, then they just haven’t said anything. Maybe they just rolled their eyes north, took a deep breath and moved on.
Regards to each and every one of you for coming here and allowing me to develop this blogsite to where it is now. There will be a lot of changes happen here soon – as SOON as my tech-dude gets around to do some maintenance and upgrades, that is. He’s put me off twice now so he could be in-line for the big Gazza-SLAP!
2009 is sure gonna be a BIG year! Gary.
