What Specific Talent(s) Do You Have for the Community?
by Gary ~ December 8th, 2008
You know something folks? I am AMAZED at some of the incredible talent we have running around this community of the Alex Jeffreys Internet Marketing Coaching group.
I gotta say I am getting blown away by the kindness and generosity that people are showing others.
And the talent is extraordinary! Let me give you a few examples… I have just been to Nigel Yip‘s blogsite (who I am dubbing the “Yip Man” after Bruce Lee’s very famous kung fu master). Nigel has produced a totally awesome video that he is producing an e-book for. And talking about e-books look at what Garry Parkes is doing! He’s gonna publish a periodical e-book for the entire crew featuring stuff too galactic to mention here. And he’s done a video from scratch too!
Then there is Dean Holland bunkered down at Holland House bashing away furiously at the keys to create his e-book for his “PEEPS” – LOL! (peeps)
And the techies! Let’s not forget the incredible techies we have here. I’m sure we have others but just to name a few who have made themselves extremely useful around the blogs… Austin Delaney, David Smith, Jeff McCall. These guys can read html and code it all up faster than I can probably dream up nick-names and other trivia for you all.
Then we have Coleen Cook providing school-room humour over at her site and Harry Harris making up Star Wars themes over at his site (I still wanna be Obi-Wan, Harry, or maybe Yoda before he got old and fat and short and dumpy and developed his droopy, hairy rabbit ears – and BZZZZZZT – I even have a light sabre!)
These are just some of the fabulous people that we have here. And I visited a few “newbie” (don’t like that word much, dont like guru much either – see elsewhere on this blogsite) fellows this morning and I tell ya what folks… they write so clearly and concisely that it was a pleasure to read their opening blogs. They will certainly give me a run for my money.
So… with such a lead in, I want to ask you all – what do you have special talents in? Come on. Don’t be shy, bashful, humble, whatever. If I spot you I will tell everyone about you. (Or if Coleen sees you she will be bound to “snitch” on you – LOL!) I am on the hunt… show yourselves oh-humble ones!
Be brief and just tell us all what you are good at. Just to break the ice, I’ll lead off. Keep it short and keep it on thread (ie topic).

You can get a copy of the NEWBIES NIGHTMARE here --->

Me again…
I case you hadn’t noticed… I am a writer. I have written numerous e-books, mostly on motivation, personal development, finance, affirmation, business and a whole bunch of others stuff that I won’t bore you to death with here. I have also completed a crime-thriller novel of 200,000 words (duh! surprise, surprise) that I am in the process of getting a publisher for.
That’s me done. See? It ain’t that hard. Just a few lines like that. Don’t be hesitant. Come on… fess up.

Hey Gazman
Dean peepster here .. lol
Hmmmm talents, good thought bro !!
Well I gotta say when I started this I wasnt quite sure if I had any but the more I go on I think I am developing some quite good skill. You see at school all them years ago I was good at maths and they used that reason as to why I was no good at writing in length. ( They said that as I did good maths that I always went straight for the answer and therefore had no story to my writing )
So I like to think my writing is now quite a good talent, whether others think so Im not sure but to me I have come so far with that.
I also like to think I am now good at helping others, as some of my blog visitors will personally know
So there you go mate, thats me
Now time to let the peeps holla at ya !!!
Till next time bro

Dean – I can personally vouch for you being very helpful & useful – you’ve put up with all my questions and explained things to me in nice easy terms – watch out, as this weekend I shall be catching up with you all & have my online presence well & truly sorted!! Thanks for all your help so far.
Gary – ditto – you have also been very kind to me as I continually ask what probably seem to be daft questions to the more experienced of you, and you’ve also provided me with helpful advice & suggestions.
I need to think sensibly about what I can contribute talent-wise, so will get back to you on that one!
Thanks again,
Nikki (Nix / Minxy!)

Thanks Dean,
I think we are all learning various things off each other.
Now that you have so boldly stepped up to the plate I am hoping others will be similarly inspired. How about it folks?
If you want to toot your trumpet for a few sentences then here’s the place to do it.
Just don’t start with…”well it all started with my mum and dad when they…” nuh! Not interested. Just a brief synopsis of what you specialise in.
Peepster! Too funny!

Excellent post Gary.
Like Dean, I was good at maths, so tend to fair more towards the tech side of things, I think my writing is getting better – I hope some of you agree, and I enjoy nothing more than helping others out.

Well, you didn’t honestly think I wouldn’t find out what you are up to Gary Simpson!!!
I may not be any good at Technical stuff, but I know how to make lots of friends and I know how to write stuff that makes people laugh!!
I can write some pretty serious things as well when I feel like it you know. Just because my mum says I’m a twit and you’re always playing jokes one me doesn’t mean I’m not good at anything.
My books have other peoples names on them…that’s clever isn’t it!!! ha ha ha
I write books for other people and my mum says that makes me a Ghost-writer…..I though they wore white sheets over their heads!!!
See ya

Martin – Thanks for the compliment. I thought it was about time somebody acknowledged some of the great people roaming Blog-Land helping others.
Cols the Queen Snitch – Yeah … yeah … yeah! (sounds like a Beatles’ song). I finally said somethin’ nice about ya and ya come straight here. I ‘spose you’re gonna run back to your Snitch-Land blog and say, “Guess what Gary-bloody-Simpson said about me… blah, blah, blah.”
Yeah – you’re CLEVER – there! I said it! OK? Happy?
All jocularity aside folks… keep ‘em coming and if you have found somebody particularly useful or obliging or if you think they are a font of knowledge then come here and RAVE about them.

Hi there, you have been busy too I see. Wonder the ‘GURU’ AKA Alex Jeffreys realises how many guys are out here with eye lids propped open with matchsticks doing all these twiddly bits! lol
Any way my blog can be found at
http://www.g4usbmarketing.com/blog
I have also cobbled together a Forum in the hope that as many students as possible will join and use it as the place to post questions and receive answers. A Forum is so much better than a Blog as a Forum has several potential helpers and the Blog leaves it up to just one, its owner.
Would appreciate you having a look, registering and testing out the functionality of the beast.
Any suggestions and comments will be warmly received.

I might be being really daft (it has been known!) but I can’t find your forum on the link you’ve given above! It’s probably me just not looking properly, but a pointer in the right direction would be great!

Great stuff Gary–keep it coming!
I know when I started out, I saw the big picture of internet marketing but there were a lot of little details that took me a while to figure out on my own. I like doing videos, and helping people out by answering their questions–so I’ve got lots of videos from setting up google analytics, to creating a redirect link, to traffic generation, with a list of a bunch of tools and resources that I use in my ebook.
Like a lot of you, I’ve been answering questions all weekend long and am happy to help contribute my talents and resources!
Keep up the good work Gary!

Hello Gary, Thanks for leaving me the comment about “My Problem”
Have we got an AWARD for lets say…”Alex Jeffreys DONKEY of the DAY” ?
I would like to be acclaimed as the first winner !
( Hey, we can all be winners, just form an orderly line behind me )
As Gary gave me the tip off, i have eeeerrr, fixed the Posting comment problem, with a little help from a fellow Alex Jeffreys student.
Gary, thanks very much, i was sitting here think, Oooohh, man i must need a new after shave.

On The topic of skills to offer:
My skills with wordpress are zero, it’s a black art to me at the moment.
But i do feel very comfortable with html and editing in notepad, which i know is thought of as very old fashioned, but i taught my self that way, and now its like riding a bike, a claim !

Not sure what my specialty is. I can figure out the technical side quite well and I’m not too bad at writing. (infact Gary I could do with a critique of an article on my blog. If you could oblige given you have a background in writing, or anyone else for that matter) Maybe it’s getting traffic for search terms that wholly inappropriate that is my talent lol…

Hey Gary
Great blog post again to get everyone started – so what do I have on offer to others? well firstly I wouldn’t say I’m talented at anything at all. As for the video, I simply just know how to press and click a piece of software that makes videos look awesome, my writing still needs improving and you will probably guess that when you get my new ebook soon and I can’t play a piano propely to save my life, yet I can somehow make music. So yeah I’m not talented just TALENTLESS.. lol!!!
Have a wonderful day and see you in tommorrow at the blog roll call

I look at my self as a very Technical person. I know Word Press in and out and can absolutly help out there if anyone have any questions.
I surf a lot and often come over useful website tools that makes marketing easier. I would love to share a bunch of those tools with you.
I know a great lot of SEO, Social Networking, Web 2.0 and other fancy Internet terms.
I’ve made bunch of websites in my life and know a little something about design and coding.
In the last year or so I’ve also used a lot of outsourcing for stuff I don’t want to do myself anymore. So I can also provide some good tips and tricks there.
This community have already given a lot of value to me.. So I’m ready to share some of my information.

Just coming back to tie up loose ends…
Alan – no probs. I saw immediately why you weren’t getting any action and had to tell you. It has nothing to do with the eau-de-cologne (my fave is Jean Paul Gaultier though I don’t wear it often – combined with my rugged good looks it is too much for any woman to resist – LOL!).
Dave – Yeah. I’d be happy to do that for you but don’t get mad with me if I rip it to pieces. Not sure when I can land at Dave-Land as my flight is overbooked at the moment but I will do my best to get to you.
Yip-Man! – You are far too modest, my friend. And as for calling yourself a geekozoid with glasses… that was pretty funny. You should also add a great sense of humour to your attributes. I’m liking you dude!
Thomas – I’m marking you down in my journal as a go to guy for wordpress. I swear I am gonna buy a book on this and ham up on it coz I HATE their on-line tutorials. You can spend an entire morning/afternoon/evening wading through a lot of crap. I like your comment on reciprocation of help. That is part of the reason why I created this page resource. We can all get to know the talent base better.
Regards to all of you. Keep the comments coming. How about a few newcomers. I gotta remember where that good “newbie” writer was that I spotted the other day.

December 9th, 2008 at 4:13 am
Gary,
Uh oh. Here is a long one.
I was reading some of the posts, I’m first inline for ”Alex Jeffreys DONKEY of the DAY”!. But all jokes aside, I just wanted to say sorry about my blooper. I should have thought of it before I posted it. I’ve put a huge sticky on monitor with a drawing of a donkey as a reminder not to be one.
I’ve been doing graphic design for some time now. But I’m not out to make a flashy “perfect” or “beautiful” site : YET. Most of my work is related to the printing industry so I’m learning as much as I can about the internet and how the logistics work (techie and non).
In all honesty I really underestimated the learning curve, almost scared and about to give up a few times. But I know I can’t quit. I need to do this for me and my family.
And Gary, I’ll be upfront with you, you’ve be a great help and I really, really appreciate all your posting, teaching and learning. It’s great. You’re a true leader.
(It’s weird, I’ve been reading blogs more than anything else in the last days. I hope I’m not getting stuck in a weird cycle. Help! I need out. What do I do next?)
Lastly, I’ll let everyone in on a little networking thing I do. It may seem traditional but it worked for me in the printing industry. And I’m sure if you do it, you’ll get a great response.
Get some business cards printed. Nice impressive cards with a logo a name and of course contact information.
And hand them out like a free vending machine. You never know who will call you. I use to travel (on my days off) up and down the subways systems just to do that. And from my point of view it worked wonders for me. Once I have my blog up and branded (as you can tell right now it’s not) I’ll be doing that again.
For those reading this, I’m not saying go up and down your local transit routes to give out business cards. But always have something with you to give out.
Hope that helps. And for all the Alex Jeffreys student’s I’m working on a book where it will explain the basic principles of branding and marketing. I’m really excited about it cause it has pictures!
Well, Gary thanks again you’ve been a great inspiration for me and helped me open many doors that I normally wouldn’t.
Cheers!

Hi Nadeem,
What a great (WAY TOO LONG) post – LOL!
Nadeem, I am way over that little issue over at Deano’s. In actual fact, I’m kinda glad you did it because any damage to our hull was plugged straight away by me and Dean. And it will serve as a timely reminder about confidentiality of proprietary information. So, no probs whatsoever Nads.
Thanks for your kind comments too. I said I was a writer. I have also been in MLM. I know how to be a motivator and cheer-leader and how to rev the living sh*t out of people so they get results. Often, it is exhausting work coz so many people these days just lay there and say “Just give me the orgasm!” LOL!
Nadeem, you are welcome here ANY time and I defend your right to make a blooper. (Just don’t make THAT one again – LOL!). Hey, we are all fallible. Yeah – much as I hate to say this… grrr… grumble… me too! (Did I say that?).
Nads, I think your idea about business cards is SENSATIONAL! When the platforms are repaired I will do that.
And you know something else Nads? … I truly ADMIRE people who acknowledge mistakes and then move on. So many people these days lack courage and just want to blame anyone and everyone.
As the Iceman said in Top Gun… “you can be my wingman any time.”
You have my full support!
Hasta la vista (baby!)

Hey Gary,
I just left the call and wanted to drop by and answer you question. You must have an inside track to what Alex was going to talk about tonight. So now I can answer your question and do what Alex asked us to do.
What Specific Talent(s) Do You Have for the Community?
install scripts,
do camtasia videos,
install wordpress,
use ftp clients,
set up anylitics,
create a paypal button,
edit web pages,
etc,
And I will help any of the coaching students that need it. I have many video tutorials on how to most of those things available for the students over on my marketing videos site.
But if you get stuck let me know and I’ll try and help you get past the hurdle. Alex talked about what is coming up and everyone needs to have there blog, and platform going. Don’t fall behind, I see so many students offering help it amazing.
That is my talents and if I don’t know how to do it I will find another student that does or find a solution on the web for you.
Thanks for the great blog Gary.

Well I’m sure I want the same as all of you out there. I want to have it all, and have it now. But I will share. But the trip getting there is half the fun,and I do mean half the fun. I guess one of my biggest regret in life is to leave a mark in the world and to make a difference, and I dont mean the trees I hit while racing my dirt bike. That is the other thing that I would love to do,and working a normal 9-5 I could not do, is to be able to go and race the Baja 1000 @ Baja Mexico held Just last two weeks. So maybe next year. NO not maybe defintly next year!!!

Alrighty, what have we got here since I poked my head in last…
Tony – You’ve arrived. I’ve been checking you blog for some action after I went there the other day. Welcome aboard.
Thomas – Love your gravatar/avatar. Do you look that good in real life? Watch out – a certain SOMEBODY will target you (if you know what I mean). That certain somebody hangs out around Cook-Land.
Incidentally – B4 I forget… check out Coleen Cook‘s brand, spanking NEW you-beaut, whizzbang blog site. What a corker! I suppose she’ll be over here to skite about it soon enough.
Thomas, I’ll put your tips at Skavhellen-ville on my burgeoning list of things to do. Thanks for telling us about your WordPress expertise. I might need some help after looking at Queen Snitch’s latest effort. LOL!
Who’s next…
David – welcome back. Yep we know what a gun you are! You are very kind to list your talents and offer them around. Thanks so much. I wish I had your technical ability but I am learning more all the time.
That’ll do for now coz if I go any further I’ll have a wordpress explosion and lose the lot. Anyone done that? You say something really good, press submit and KA-POOF – gone! I’m saving as I go now. That’s a tip I picked up off another thread. Thanks whoever suggested that.
Back soon…

December 10th, 2008 at 10:17 am
So soon? Yep. Gotta get this done before I work on some of my secret projects – dont ask – guess who that will bait?
Roval – Howdy, I’ll put you on my blogroll as I ain’t seen you at Gary-Land B4. If I get a chance – getting worse by the hour – I’ll pop over with a quick howdy in person.
Folks, this is really omni-important for the webring in general and YOUR blog in particular. The cross-links that we are building is making Google and Yahoo and the other search engines go ga-ga with delight. Go and see my comment on the Module 3 thread – about 3 posts from the top from memory.
Coleen – I knew it. Yeah, yeah! You got the best looking blog site in friggin’ Blog-Land. Even I have to admit it – “MEAN” as I am – it’s a sh*t hot site now. Puts mine to shame. But I got plans baby. Just wait. I know what I am up against now. You don’t – LOL! You do have a wonderful looking site now. Congratulations! (grrrr)
Oh, and folks go over and do Coleen’s damn poll before she comes back and rabbits on about it again. Last time I looked it wasn’t even there. But you are having some volcanic things happening over there. Maybe I’ll sabotage it while you aren’t looking.
Did anybody see that little bit of by-play between me and Cols on Alex’s webinar screen today? I couldn’t help myself – just another chance to be mean to the QS again. You’re a good sport Cols.
Darrell – You’re not a doctor by any chance, are you? Dirt biker huh? Not my cup of tea that caper. Then again, I guess we all get our jollies off doing different things huh?
Incidentally, your second sentence. Isn’t that a rip-off of some song? Watch out. Look what is happening to Coldplay right now with that Joe Satriani copyright thing. Sounds like the best song he never wrote – LOL!
Darrell, I’ll whack you on my bloggy too. And… if I get time I’ll shuffle on over and say, “Hello, Livingston, I presume” or something equally inane.
But enough of my frivolity. Thanks for stopping by folks and… Cols… ease up love! I’m falling too far behind and I will have to devise something dastardly to annihilate you in the fashion design stakes.
Peace brothers… and sister.

Hi Gary
Just dropped by your blog as Alex asked us to do and what great help I am finding here and on other blogs.
As far as technical support goes – don’t look to me! I’m learning as I go along.
However my skills are more along the lines of writing. I teach literacy & numeracy in a Further Education college and am quite good at help and support in those areas. I am also fairly good at proof reading and as Alex said it is important to present a professional face.
Poor spelling can totally put some people off reading further and I’d be more than happy to look over anything anyone writes, be it a blog post, an eBook or anything else that goes in front of the public if you think that would help.
I do miss some mistakes but I can help with things like the correct spelling of words such as their / there, of /off, its / it’s etc.
I also have a particular interest in dyslexia and have done some training in working with dyslexic adults, so feel free to contact me about this. I was interested to hear that Alex said last night that he was dyslexic. Some very well-known people are dyslexic – Richard Branson, Eddie Izzard, Henry Winkler etc and it does not stop them achieving. In fact dyslexic people are often great at seeing the big picture and just need others to help them get the details done.
I’m sure that’s what we are all doing here. Helping one another.
Anyway, I have just got my own blog up and running today, as Alex asked us to, using Dean’s eBook as a guide. I hope to host it myself soon, but in the meantime please do take a look at:
http://www.hilarydickinson.wordpress.com
and leave me any comments or messages. I’d love to hear from you.

Heh…heh…
Hilary
You don’t need to tell ME you are a writer. It shows, darls… a bit like a lighthouse on the coast when you are far out to sea looking for a port.
We actually have several talented writers among the Blog-Land crew. I saw a new guy the other day and his words just “lifted” right off the page to me. It was like he was talking to me personally. That is an art form in itself. I gotta get back and see who he was – no time right now. I guess when he comes here I will identify him.
I have just been over to check on Yip-Man coz he asked me to and, gee, you should see how that guy is shaping up. In fact, he calls himself talentless (see above). Duh! I was so impressed I left a big compliment in his comments area.
You should all go and see how good his written ability is for a mere 21 yo – astounding.
In fact, this subject is so near and dear to my heart – and I think it is just so vitally important to online success – that I am gonna chuck up a new thread.
Thanks for reminding me to do this Hilary. I will be over to Hillary-Ville when time permits.

It’s official – You can play OBI-WAN – how could I not allow that to happen?
If I can assist in ANY way mate just let me know and I will do what it takes!
Cheers,

Gary,
I don’t feel I have any particular talent that stands out, but I’m more than willing to share any knowledge I have.
At times, I don’t think we actually realize just how much we really do know in some areas, until the subject comes up or a question is asked? Then you think to yourself…hey, I now how to do that!
I come from a technical background so I find it hard to break out of that mindset when I’m writing. To the point, focused, cold and so boooring!
It really gives me the woops, because I enjoy telling a good joke and taking the piss out of people and myself! I just don’t seem to be able to get it to flow onto the paper.
You can add me to your list under the moral support category!
Cheers,
Dean Hohn

Hi Gary,
Great Blog and a great resource for everyone of ‘The Fortunate Five Hundred’
I don’t know exactly what I would describe myself as an ‘expert’ in but I have learned a lot over the last few years and can turn my hand to most things that anyone starting out with all this would need to know.
I like to explain things in very simple terms so that anybody, even those with just a basic education can hopefully understand, ( As an example I explain what Private Label Rights (PLR) are in very basic terms on my blog at http://tednewman.name/what-are-private-label-rights/ ) and if people still have difficulty with things I will if possible show them how to do things or at least try an explain them so they can understand.
I can install wordpress and all that entails with themes and plugins etc.
I have made Camtasia videos for projects of my own and I have conducted audio interviews with one or two well known internet marketers.
I know my way around HTML and can do most things except for the ‘Heavy Duty’ HTML editing. using editors like Dreamweaver etc and also some of the more simpler editors like NVU and Kompozer.
I can create ‘Squeeze Pages’ etc and I have a small number of lists and have been using Aweber for the last 12 months or so.
There is not much that I don’t know at least something about regarding Internet and Information marketing and everything that entails with upsells, downsells, OTO’s and all the rest of that side of things and if I personally don’t know how to do something I probably know someone who can if theres no-one here who fits the criteria.
Unless someone here needs great ‘in-depth’ knowledge about a certain subject I should be able to help them to some degree, they just have to ask!
I would like to offer anyone here the opportunity to be interviewed by me ( For FREE ) regarding their own journey in ‘Alex’s Army’ so that they can pass on to their own subscribers in their own words what it was like building their own on-line business. This will be a product that anyone can either give away or sell if they wish. It will be ‘Their’ product not mine.
Thanks again for the opportunity to offer what little I can to ‘our community’ and for all you have done so far.
Best wishes to all for Christmas and a very prosperous New Year is just around the corner.
Cheers
Ted Newman.
