MotivationSelfEsteem.com Blog is ONE Year Old TODAY!
by Gary ~ November 27th, 2009
Hi there,
Well today marks a milestone for this lil ole blog of mine. You see www.motivationselfesteem.com/talk is officially ONE YEAR OLD today! Yep, I started it up on the 27th of November 2008 after signing up to Alex Jeffreys’ Internet Marketing Course.
Since then I have turned this site into a POWERHOUSE of Internet Marketing information – most of which is FREE. Here are just some of the highlights along the way…
1 – Back then I was getting approximately 50 to 75 visitors a day. Today I regularly get 600 to 800 per day and have had many days over 900 and even 1,000. The biggest visitor number was last week at 1,310 visitors for the 24 hour period. That is high traffic!
2 – I went from having ZERO followers on Twitter to having some 27,000 followers now,
3 – My Alexa Ranking has gone from 5,179,210 on the 27th November 2008 right down to being in the top 100,000 websites in the world with a present popularity rank of 92,216 (and still falling like a stone) – and that is a significant achievement to be ranked 92,216th in the WORLD out of about 50,000,000 (50 million) websites!
4 – I have added content almost every week – this has drawn 3,573 comments in the 12 month period.
5 – I have also added many informational e-books to the blog to help people understand the concepts of copywriting, time management, adswapping, list-building, Giveaway events, motivation, inspiration, Twitter AND there are more to come!
6 – Added over a dozen educational (and sometimes funny and even raunchy) videos to make my points.
So, little grass-hopper… IF you think you cannot build a blog from scratch to the monumental level that you see right here, then THINK AGAIN! Sure, I’m a writer – and I can write the OO’s of just about anyone on the planet (I’m not kidding when I say that either – LOL!) – but do you know what has REALLY got me here? Let me tell you…
… sheer discipline, the will-to-succeed, self-motivation, educating myself and a host of other things but most of all… PLAIN HARD WORK! Even the BEST of the BEST in anything will NOT win if they do not use those traits. Laziness NEVER wins anything. Remember that!
You can do it. Do you want it bad enough? Well… do you? (I was gonna say “punk” – LOL!)
This blog is PROOF of what can be done in just 12 short months! Now go out and succeed!

Happy Birthday to the Temple!
I was only thinking today that it is a year since I really started on my road too. Thanks to the start from Alex Jeffreys and his Internet Marketing course I have learned so much in the past year It took me a little bit longer to get my blog up and running (my first blog post was 10th December) and it isn’t up to this standard but…
I have always used your blog as a sort of ‘home base’ to come to first and it has proved to be a mine of useful information. It has educated and amused me as well as being a great place to share with other like minded people.
Thanks for the help and the support both to me and Lizzie (the Lizzard video still amuses us).
Thank you that I have been able to walk on this journey with you – I may be a few steps behind you (quite a few actually!) but I don’t give up easily. One day my blog and other sites will be more like this!
So enjoy the birthday celebrations and don’t eat too much cake!

Hils – well look at you! First cab off the rank.
Yep, I agree. I have learned a lot too. I think the MOST significant event was going to Las Vegas. I got the drive there. I saw and heard about people there who were doing things that I wasn’t. I mixed with like-minded people all wanting to head in the same direction. That’s when my turbo kicked in. So… Hils… are you going to Vegas in January 2010? You said you were.
Yeah, that Lizzard video was fun, huh? I hope Lizzie got a bit of a kick out of it. She’s a good kid but she needs more consistency in that blog of hers. I’ve tried to tell her that – several times!
Just remember Hils (I know you already know this – it’s for the benefit of my other readers) – it ain’t a race. Having said that, I am in a constant battle with myself to do more and be more productive here. And when the shackles come off (due to a “disturbance” in my life here) then WATCH OUT!
Thanks for coming back so soon.

Gary
Thats one hell of an achievment, something to be very proud of and for the rest of us mortals to aspire to.
The Alexa ranking says something in itself – you have done very well to fit all that work in between your Skype and Twitter conversations LOL!
Any well done

Hi Gary,
It’s really good to look at how far you’ve come in just 12 months, and also an inspiration to anyone just starting out.
I’m sure planning has had a lot to do with your success too, but I hear what you’re saying… It’s all those things your mention and mostly the fact that you worked damn hard. That was what made you take action on your plans, and that’s what has got you to where you are now.
Happy 1st Birthday to The Temple!
Paul.

@ Peter – I reckon you can do it mate. You have the correct attitude and determination.
Er, regarding Skype and Twitter… yeah but here’s the “secret” – all those seemingly useless conversations allow people to know me, sort of. When they “know” you then you are no longer a stranger and, chances are, they may just know or like you enough to want to know more. So, there actually is a surreptitious method in my madness.
@ Paul (Hmm, here comes a joke… all we need now is Mary…OK, it wasn’t all that funny – best I can do ATM).
Back to business… That is why I made this post Paul – to INSPIRE others. If other people are like me, I like to kinda see what is ahead so I can shoot for it. There is NO replacement for HARD WORK. Sure, you can work smart. But when you add the GRUNT to it that is when the big wheel starts to turn.
I gotta tell you though – I am NOWHERE NEAR where I want to be. This is just my opening salvo, my first innings. I want to vacate this space and move on. And that leaves a place for you guys to come to in your own journeys.
Thanks for the birthday wishes but tsk… tsk… not the Temple… no sir – the TEMPLE!

Gary,
It is hard to belive it has been a full year since I started to hear about the “Gazz-man” and then begin to read the content at The Temple. You are to be commended upon your accomplishments and for the inspiration and example you provide to others.
While other life issues and duties may keep some of us from moving as rapidly as we would like, it is always good to be able to look to the front and see some one going where we want to go who regularly turns giving us a wave and say’s “C’mon mate, you can do it”. Keep up the good work. We are coming…..
BTW, I had an interesting conversation with a patient yesterday regarding “banana benders ” and “sand gropers” ……. LOL
December 5th, 2009 at 1:13 am
Hi Ken – Long time no hear – LOL! I must also apologize for not replying sooner but, Ken, behind-the-scenes I just have so much going on. I can hardly keep up with it all. In fact, I can’t! So I have to be selective in what I do and when I do it.
Thanks for the compliments.
It always amazes me how dentists can have “conversations” with their patients. A lot of “u-huh” and “uh-uh” always seems to go on when you’ve got your gob open and somebody is jamming stuff into it. LOL!
So, you now know that a “Banana Bender” is a person from Queensland and a “Sand Groper” is a West Aussie (like me) huh? We are a WEIRD lot over here in Oz!
Thanks for posting Ken.

UPDATE:
See what I said above?
Well, that AR fell even further this morning. It’s now on 84,775 and my NEW target is 75,000.
Just in case anyone is interested.
Gary
PS: I know that AR results are not entirely accurate AND they are skewed towards Internet Marketing sites but they do give somewhat of a guide to site popularity. I’m happy with my present ranking anyway.

Hi Gary,
Happy Birthday to your blog.
Amazing achievement for you and I know you’ll get to the next desired destination of yours.
I got here a bit late but I always enjoy finding out what you’re up to and learn a thing or two.
If I can be honest there is a bit of an irritant associated with coming to your blog – it takes a lo-o-ong time to load.
I don’t have the fastest internet connection but there is only one blog that causes me a similar problem on the whole internet that I know of. In that case it’s because it is loaded with banner ads etc.
Your content is not commercial so it must mean that it is loaded with good stuff. But it would be nice if it loaded faster.
I heard and read that the search engines very much take into consideration the loading time when they rank sites.
Knowing you though you won’t cater to that.
I appreciate what you share in this post about what it took for you to get where you are now.
Do I think i can do it too?
Yes I do.
Even if I take twice as long as you did it’s worth going for.
Congratulations on your first anniversary with the blog.

Hi Vance,
Thanks. That’s true.
Anyone who is prepared to plough in enough INTELLIGENT ACTION can do what I have done. In fact, knowing what I know now I could probably do it in a lot less time. Because a lot of what I have done action-wise wasn’t necessarily real intelligent. I just kept throwing a huge effort in. I’m a bit smarter at it now ( I hope!).
But, we all need to “graduate from the school of hard knocks.” When you have people blazing a trail before you the learning curve isn’t quite so bad.
