Internet Marketing Tips #8 – Gary Simpson
by Gary ~ September 28th, 2009
Hello,
Well, I hope you have been enjoying my Internet Marketing tips from Las Vegas. This one is about getting yourself a mentor.
Now, I’ve been hinting about the existence of this video (and others) for a while now. You are in for a surprise here – oh yeah! Here I am in the spa at my luxury apartment suite at the Luxor Casino. The luxury Luxor. Oh, watch for what I do at the end… (You know something? … I can hardly believe I do these things myself *sigh* I mean – seriously – I don’t know what possesses me sometimes. Or where these dopey ideas even come from.)
Enough said. Watch it and see for yourself…
If you haven’t watched the other 7 Internet Marketing videos then they are here on my blog. In all of them I manage to say something at least half-decent about Internet marketing. (Maybe this one is half-INdecent – LOL!)
![]()
PS: Who else do you know who would have the audacity to do this? Oh yeah, maybe the Gangsta would – Alex Jeffreys.

Hey Gaz,
I was worried for a minute at the end there… I thought you were going to stand up and SHOW us what you were wearing! LOL
You are SO right about finding a mentor!
I struggled for a looong time, constantly jumping from product to product, from one method to the other, never quite ‘getting it’ and not understanding why.
Finally I saw sense and found myself a mentor – John Thornhill – and AT LAST things started to fall into place.
John taught me how to focus on each step, to take it slowly, and most importantly, to take action. When things get tough, I always know that he’s there to give much needed help, support and encouragement.
I’ve also made some great contacts through my coaching such as Dave Nicholson, another great guy who has been an enormous help to me at times.
You mentioned the cost of coaching, yes it can sometimes seem expensive, but I believe that paying for coaching actually SAVED me money. It stopped me spending like some sort of crazy women on all the latest hyped up products that appeared.
I really enjoy your posts Gaz … keep up the great work!
BTW that ‘business’ trip to Las Vegas sure looked like a lot of fun
Talk again soon

Ha ha Colls! I do have some decorum. Not a LOT – but some…
I hear nothing but good things about John Thornhill. Hence, me mentioning him and the others in my video. And Dave Nicholson who I banter back and forth with a bit on Twitter.
Thanks for the compliment Collette. Oh yeah it was ALL business. All of it – as you can see! LOL!
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Gary
Boy could I do with a relaxing dip in the spa right now… (on my own of course!!) I’ve had the start of term cold, along with my son and lots of the other teachers, for over a week now and it’s come back with a vengeance today.
Oh well, it has given me time to catch up with your latest offering (who was using the camera? – unless you had remote control).
Mentors are so important in our lives – it was listening to an audio which told me to get a mentor that made me sign up with Alex Jeffreys in the first place.
Now I’m the first to admit that I haven’t done everything that Alex told me to do and I have been a bit guilty of hopping around the place, but sometimes you need to do that first before you can really settle into something (my version of sowing wild oats?)
My focus is now better, I have become more organised and prepared and now I need to put the transformation into practice.
As ever life will intervene – especially as a mum of two active teenagers – but the important thing is to keep moving, even if sometimes I feel like I am going backwards for a while.
I’m looking forward to going to the Entrepreneur’s Bootcamp at the O2 arena in London this weekend. As well as lots of great speakers and information, my husband is coming with me so that we can spend some time doing things and learning together. Our own profitable business is just around the corner…
Meanwhile, thanks for making us smile – I know that I can always rely on you to do that.

Hils – my little peach. How are you?
Er, who was using the camera? A darn good question! The janitor? The bellboy? The room service? Aha! You know how I don’t like to kiss and tell Hils… well… actually… you don’t – LOL! Issa secret!
You know something Hils? – I actually do very little of what people TELL me to do but… I do take notice AND I try to modify that knowledge specifically to suit me. OK, I’m a non-conformist. But I DO take notice! I am ALWAYS looking for ways to make knowledge better.
You lucky thing going to that event! I wish we had some more things like that here. Thinking… thinking… hmm… maybe I should HOST one!
Good on you getting Mr Dicko to come with you. Well done!
Hils, one thing I will always do is try to get a smile out of people – even if I have to make myself look like a dolt to do it. Glad you were amused. That was the aim of the video.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Gary,
Those seminars look really tough, and it must be a real bummer getting bubbles in your JD & coke
.
Well, i’m just glad there was bubbles in the spa there, it was bad enough seeing your shorts with nobody inside them! Thought we were going to have to give your Blog a XXX rating for a minute then…
Cheers,
Paul
September 28th, 2009 at 11:51 am
@ Paul – YEP! The Internet Marketing seminars are TOUGH! They really are mate.
You reckon I’d be any good at porn? Well, maybe you’re the wrong person to ask. Maybe Her Witchliness will grace us soon and give a definitive answer on that.
As you can see, it was all work, work, work.
Gary
September 28th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
It’s only work if you don’t enjoy it and somehow I think that you were enjoying yourself too much to make it work…
Yep I’m realy glad that my husband is coming with me this weekend – have booked a nice hotel in Greenwich, so that we can do the touristy bits on Sunday morning – Greenwich Observatory, see how the Cutty Sark restoration is coming along. It’s an early treat for our anniversary later in the month.
The event is being run by Andrew Reynolds and what I like is that although he has made millions he gives away a large amount to charities – the ticket money is all going to the Make A Wish Foundation. Even if the event doesn’t measure up (which I’m sure it will do as he has run these before and they have great feedback) at least my ticket money is doing some good.
Yes organise yourself an event down under – you never know where these things lead. I’ll let you know how this one goes.
Right must go and get a new post and other work done – the ebook on allowances that I wrote a chapter for is going live today so I need to get organised. I’ll come back and give you a link when I am done..
Well there could have been more than one person in the room with the camera – I reckon you were just about to hold a party..
Hils
September 28th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
Hils – HOW did you figure that out? LOL!
I haven’t heard of Andrew Reynolds but he sounds like a benevolent fellow, that’s for sure.
Yes please – come back and give us all the link. I am ALWAYS pleased to see other people’s progress. You (and others) are always welcome to come here and post your achievements.
You really wanna know? LOL!
Gary
September 28th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
Where there was one glass of JD I bet there were more – more bottles / glasses – more people.
Hearing about what else went on whilst you were in Las Vegas nothing surprises me (I think!)
Hils
September 28th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
LOL Hils – you are on fire tonight. LOL! You are trying to tease it outa me… heh heh – but TGM is made of stern stuff. Wild horses won’t get me to reveal my secrets. Then again… maybe a little bribe…
Your comments made me laugh. Just make sure the Lizzard doesn’t see it.

Today folks, Gary Simpson expounded upon the importance of acquiring a mentor. As usual, his informative video contained no fluff – stripped right down to just the bare facts. His style of naked truth may have been a little strong for some viewers, but in the past, Mr. Simpson has been known to burst a few IM bubbles.
He just doesn’t want anyone to take a bath in IM.
With nothing on (his agenda) but having a good time, still, Gary displayed his willingness to (almost) not hold back any secrets and to demonstrate that even with (almost) everything he’s got, more importantly – he’s really got it (in the) altogether.

September 29th, 2009 at 12:57 am
@ Denis – when I sat down at my computer and reviewed all the emails overnight can you imagine how delighted I was to see your name in the queue? I held my breath while reading your comment, wondering just what you would make of my latest offering. Well said. I think you got to the bare essentials of it all without giving me a bath.
Now I’m just waiting for Her Purpleness to arrive and say something… interesting. Oh, I can hardly wait.
Gary

See your in TUB.
How you ads on your bath room. You are a real sale. Very little fun on last piece of your. launder and bath at same time. LOL
September 29th, 2009 at 4:22 am
Hey Gary
Great video, they keep getting better and better. So true about having a mentor. I feel Alex is one of the best down to earth and easy to communicate with. Aw yes the follow through, without the follow through and doing what the mentor tells you to do, it’s just more money pissed away. Hey looking for video # 9, #9, #9 ( Beatles song) If you listen hard enough maybe you can hear the purple flying broomstick of our lovely PMW
Glenn
September 29th, 2009 at 8:43 am
@ Glenn – better and better. Gee! I thought this video was gonna bomb! But it’s getting a fair bit of attention.
Indeed #9 will be special. I’m thinking… Hooters!
BTW, apparently Beatle John Lennon had a real special affinity for the number 9. I read that in a magazine the other day.
I’m still awaiting the arrival of You-Know-Who! This’ll be good…
Thanks for the visit Glenn.

Hey Gazz-Man,
Loved the bubbles ….. too true about getting a mentor ….
Who was the camera person doing all the work while you relaxed ?
Speak soon
Tommy
September 30th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
All I can say, Gazza, is THANK GOODNESS for those bubbles!
Phil
September 30th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
Hey Gazzman,
You were right about that video, almost didn’t know where to look! lol
And as someone who decided to use Alex Jeffreys as a mentor and then got Dean Holland as well I know that what you are saying is true.
I’ve spent lots of small amounts online as we all have but the amount I spent on that training will turn out to be the most rewarding.
And as well as getting two mentors, as part of the communities I have found several other people who inspire me to keep working towards my goals.
And you are definitely in that group as I honestly don’t feel that I am completely being myself in my marketing yet, I hold back opinions and rants for fear of alienating folks but watching you on your blogs, in forums and on twitter it is clear that you can be yourself and a success.
Long may it continue.
Best regards
Andy Michaels
October 1st, 2009 at 3:12 am
@ Tommy – I loved the bubbles too! I sat there relaxing until my hands and feet looked like prunes. The camera person was Anna Nonymous.
@ Phil – There are actually a few people messaging me about standing up. WHAT the …? Then you woulda known my secret – ANOTHER pair of bathers. LOL!
@ Andy – thanks for saying that. I’m pushing the boundaries all the time. My Alexa Ranking (hovering around 200,000) and the number of people coming to my blog posts (800/day) show that I am either entertaining them or educating them or… er, irritating them. Be yourself Andy. Read my previous blog post. have a good rant, be silly, be controversial. They executed Jesus Christ, they persecuted Mahatma Gandhi and some even hated Mother Teresa. Nobody is loved or even liked by everybody. So why bother even trying?
Hmm, THAT was a damn good little saying I just made up there. Gonna bung that on Twitter for the Twitterini to mull over.
Thanks for coming here and commenting guys. Er, and putting up with… THAT!
Gary.

Man Gary, that was some great advice and I have definitely taken it… But that video just went from informative to a little creepy…
Matt
October 1st, 2009 at 5:30 am
Hi Matt – Hmm… Yeah, I can understand that. I guess if could be viewed as somewhat creepy – LOL!
But you may not have read this bit (directly above):
Anyway, good point. Hmm, I think I have some more “creepy” stuff coming up… LOL!
Gary
October 1st, 2009 at 1:22 pm
Alright M.O.M
How ya doing mate?
mmm interesting I was waiting for the dodgy porn music to start playing. Great stuff though Gary you got me dreaming of that lifestyle now, my kids would love to stay in a hotel room like that.
One day I hope to treat them to a luxury holiday they deserve it for putting up with me.
cheers
Marcus
PS I swear I didnt see the Briffa open his wallet over the weekend.
October 1st, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Hey Gary,
Man, you’re starting to scare me. I know you too well. Through out the whole video I was wondering what you were going to pull on us. I’m hoping there’s a second swim suit under there. I’m going to have freakin nightmares tonight.
I want to know who the unfortunate soul was that was holding the camera.
But to your main point of the video. You’re right, everyone needs a mentor. I don’t care how much you think you might know there’s always more to learn from someone else.
Later,
Jeff Sargent

Hi Gary,
It is great to find a fellow Aussie among the myriad of American Internet Marketers out there.
I am very impressed with the information/books I have read from you so far and will continue to follow your journey and learn as much as I can.
We never stop learning until we are dead and everyone can learn from everyone else, IF they simply open their minds to the concept that new ideas and different viewpoints are a good thing.
Keep up the great work and I thank you for allowing us to share your journey.
Laurence
Melbourne, Australia.
October 2nd, 2009 at 1:00 am
@ Marcus – oh dear, you are now shortening it to M.O.M. Well, I’m laughing at that coz nobody will have a clue what you are referring to.
Also laughing at the reference to dodgy porn music. OMG. You guys and your sordid minds. It was indeed a luxury room. Cost me a bomb too.
If Briffs had’ve opened his wallet you would have been ducking for cover. Those bloody moths go everywhere! [I know he's gonna read this and have a giggle himself. Dean and Dan and I couldn't stop laughing about that in Vegas. There's a YouTube video floating around somewhere - along with the moths. LOL!]
@ Jeff – if there’s one thing you can predict about me it’s my unpredictability. It’s got me into a LOT of trouble with people in the past, mainly coz I’m a non-conformist and a free-thinker – unless people can prove to me that I am wrong then I won’t change the way I think or do the things they want me to do. But if they can then that’s a whole different matter… (I’ve always said I’d probably be the first one shot in a POW camp. Then again, an AK47 pointed at you could be fairly influential. But you get my drift, I’m sure.)
@ Laurence – thanks for visiting after our email exchange the other day. I’m glad you are enjoying reading my material. That’s a darn big IF in your comment above, isn’t it? I learn mostly from books and courses that I go to. I take copious amounts of notes and I have one of the biggest reference libraries.
Just on that, whenever I go to somebody’s home or office my eye is always drawn to their bookshelf – IF (LOL) they have one. I can’t help being nosey in that regard. It can tell you a bundle about the person.
I quite often have people ask me “why do you read all that stuff?” But guess who’s the first person they come to when they want a considered answer on something? What goes in often comes out. Read or watch crap and you think and talk crap. Feed yourself the good stuff and, chances are pretty high, the good stuff comes out – regurgitated in your own unique way.
BTW Laurence, I read that little e-book. Interesting. I can see where the guy is coming from but his base is now the thing that he is disagreeing with. Without that base, would he have the knowledge now to claim that he has a better way? Hmm.
Thanks for coming over and adding to the fun and knowledge base here guys.
Gary
PS: Another question I get a lot is, “Have you actually read all those books?” To which – if I’m in a smart-arse mood (which can be fairly often) – I say, “No. I just like looking at the covers.” But mostly, the answer is, “Yeah, most of them I have… twice.” OK, the last bit is also smart-alecky. But it gets the most amazing looks and reactions from people. LOL!

Here I am!
The PMW is currently not well, so I’ve been brewing all sorts of nonsense in my cauldron. A few hazy concoctions later and I seem to have lost a couple of days.
Now then. I fly on over here to see what’s going on, as it’s usually a good place to start when wishing to catch up on stuff. What am I presented with? A virtually naked TGM sipping on some kind of beverage while trying to deliver a lesson to us all. I wonder how many people actually listened to the lesson or in fact spent the whole time going “I wonder if he’s got anything on – please tell me there’s something on under there, oh god, is he going to stand up & introduce us to the *other* TGM” etc etc.
You do of course make very valid points, but we all know I’m not going to answer those.
Instead…you said:
Er…I think you may need a dodgy porn moustache first of all, and then you would have needed to enter your hotel room pretending to be the maintenance dude while several naked women frolicked in the spa thing & then invited you to join them. Oh, wait, that happened? Then yes, you’re definitely cut of for that kind of career then!
Denis, I loved your whole comment but particularly
So funny.
Glenn, indeed, the broomstick of the PMW has arrived, with a rather dishevelled and confused PMW aboard. There I was expecting some kind of tranquility and peace from here, but no. Some kind of debauchery has greeted me instead, so I feel right at home.
Marcus & TGM I do know what M. O. M. stands for. I shall leave it in acronymic form though. Marcus, not sure you’d want to take your children to Las Vegas – it’s not the most savoury of places! Educational in some respects, yes, but possibly not the kind of lessons you would want them to be learning yet…
Somehow I don’t think a video of me in the bath in the UK would be anywhere near as exotic. Perhaps I’ll have to do one and let a select few review it first…

HAHA Garry really enjoyed this vid it made me lol But it does get your point over,
you wouldnt expect to get an engineering degree without paying for it so why should internet marketing be any different , so i agree if you really want to keep focused get yourself a mentor ,you will be far better off spending your money on a mentor to guide you throught the maze rather than spend it on piece of software that will only end up sitting on your hard drive.
One last question who shot the vid or did you use your tripod?
cheers mick
October 2nd, 2009 at 12:20 pm
Oh Nikki – that certainly didn’t disappoint anyone, I don’t think. I laughed myself stupid through reading your comments – once in my email screen and then AGAIN on my blog. Very funny stuff, my dear – especially about the porn mo – in fact, for MANY years I DID have a moustache – and, come to think of it, it DID look a bit porny. LOL!
Regarding your “story line”… I think I saw something like that… once… LOL!
Nix – you know what every bloody acronym stands for. You have more acronyms than the US military and they have PLENTY!
Too funny. Well worth the wait.
Gary
October 2nd, 2009 at 12:32 pm
@ Mick – I agree with everything you said. Also, despite my utter lunacy in making this crazy video, I am really glad that people are listening to what I am saying. THAT is the real message. But I decided to create this stunt to make people take notice – because it is SO important.
You don’t have to have ONE mentor. You can have many. Take what you want or like from each of them. I learn lots of things from many, many people. I always have.
I’m gonna leave that tripod question alone, I think. Cheeky bugger. LOL!

What is it with Internet Marketers and being naked? LOL..
Hope you don’t mind my blog post Gary.. if you do.. let me know and I’ll delete it at once!
Talk to you soon…
