Internet Marketing Tips #6 – Gary Simpson
by Gary ~ August 23rd, 2009
Howdy,
Today I want to continue with my Internet Marketing Tips videos. This is number 6 in the series. This one was shot outside the front of the MGM Casino in Las Vegas in June 2009.
The MGM Casino is rather unique in that inside it houses a specially sealed glass enclosure that is the home to a changing family of lions and lionesses. These beasts are incredibly majestic and the views of them are spectacular. There is even a glass walkway where you can walk through a tunnel directly under lazing lions.
The enclosure is complete with ponds and waterfalls and it is sealed atmospherically from the filthy smoky air of the Casino itself. I tell ya, there were MANY times I wanted to be INSIDE that enclosure to escape the stench of cigarette smoke. Anyway…
… the lions are extremely well fed and a new bunch is brought in every few hours from the lion ranch some 10 or 12 miles away.
OK. I know, my joke about lions in the video is pathetic. (You gotta watch the video to hear it.) This tip is all about putting yourself OUT THERE. I had a lot of people walk past me and give me curious looks when I was making this video. Do I care now? NOPE! I couldn’t care less. It’s all a matter of confidence and nervousness at the time. If I can do it, you can do it. YES – you CAN! Put yourself out there. Show the world who you are.
I hope you are enjoying these Internet Marketing videos and the range of sites that I am showing you from the “SIN” capital of the world – Las Vegas.
Gimme some feedback.

Gary,
I would be Li-on is I said it was a great Pun….
Really do like the snippets. Make perfect sense and are very helpful.
You will never see what you can do and who you can become if you do not put yourself out there.
I am always amazed when I talk to people and I find out their biggest fear is the fear of public speaking. They find it mind boggling that I can stand up in front of large groups and teach (or talk/facilitate) and not have a problem.
This comes easy to me… although it was not always this way, I was as afraid as the next person at one time in my life. As most things in life it is a learned behavior. We can all learn it and get good at it if we choose to.
So I agree… Get out there and do it (now I am a Nike Commercial)
Have a great day… talk to you soon

@ Dean – Sounds like I am having the effect that I wanna have here. I’m going for a balance of educational material and humor. Always good to make “peeps” (remember that? LOL) laugh.
@ Thom – fear of public speaking. Yep that’s true. I said in one of my e-books just recently that I have delivered FIVE eulogies. That is TOUGH. If you can do that you can do anything.
The only thing that aggravates me in that regard are the people who just won’t stop saying sh*t like, “Aren’t you nervous?” I always know what I want to do and say and that idiotic comment just saps my concentration for the event. It’s amazing the number of people who will say junk like that.

You were just “lion in wait” for this opportunity, weren’t you? Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Great point, though, Gazz. We are more than we realize;we just have to more out of our comfort/lazy zone and make things happen. If you waited long enough those people watching you may have asked for your autgraph not wanting to miss an opportunity to see a celebrity.

I can’t seem to type this morning. That was “move” and “autograph”.

Hi Gary!
Still sorry for not joining everybody in Vegas at that conference. I hope you guys learned a lot, it surely looks that way with all the value you are giving away these days
All the best to you and hope to work together with you soon..

I didn’t realize you were from Outback (which is my favorite restaurant, too) until I watched your wonderful video; it was a roaring success. A pack of Texas bobcats could not be more proud. I once wandered into a pride of lions, while on safari, in Africa; it was scary. Even though I’m from Texas, all I could think of to say was “danger, danger, danger, and coouwwie.” Then, I just ran like hell-o.

Hi Gary,
Another great video, even if the pun was terrible
You have it spot on though – nobody could care less what you were doing, even if they were looking at you a bit “funny”.
If we all worried so much about what nameless “other people” thought then we’d never get anything done!
I love these type of videos and need to get some done myself against some exotic backdrop or another!

@ Richard – You are NOT alone. Everybody thinks their voice sounds awful. I do too – LOL!
@ Trees – Indeed. I remember a couple of people “loitering” around just to see/hear what I was doing. Don’t worry I KNEW what you meant!
@ Glenn – thanks for saying that. I aim to show/teach useful stuff. That is why I don’t like so many of these useless e-books floating around the place. And that is EXACTLY why I want my e-books to offer exceptional value to everyone.
@ Tommy – I gotta say Tom, I have missed you around the place. I know you have been busy in that job. There’s another Las Vegas hook-up happening in October/November – not sure if I can make it though as it is probably gonna clash with a big karate engagement that I need to attend.
@ Jim – you made me laugh man… “a roaring success!” LOL! Thanks for slipping over here from the big T.
@ David – thanks for telling me you love the videos. I had some fun – and a few weird moments – making them. I never realised how much fun they really are – for me and the voyeurs… I mean viewers. I have so many more too… including one of me in the spa. Not sure if that is suitable for general exhibition though.
Thanks folks for these great comments.

@ Ralph – Hi. Thanks for watching. Boldness and getting out there is the message I am trying (albeit maybe not so well) to convey here.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Gary,
Thanks for the comment on my blog. I understand you have a 1023.5th degree black belt in puns. I will follow Nikki’s and your advice to not get you started. I have replied to your comments on my blog.
Thanks for always being honest and not Li-on to us (ouch!)

@ Gene – that is correct!
I always try to give positive feedback but in doing so I will not hold back from telling people what they NEED to hear, rather than what they long to hear. To that end, here is a quote that I rather like:

I used to be fairly self conscious in general, always concerned about what he or she will think if I say this or do this. One thing I learned last few years is that in order to be a successful entrepreneur you need to care about only one thing. Results. And screw everyone else on what they think of you. Its your life and at the end of the day the only person you should answer to is yourself. Most people have so many issues with this and that. Shut it all out and concentrate on Results.
